Where do you cross the line of what you would do for self preservation? Would you kill innocents? Would you eat your loved ones? how far would you go?

Not coming from a military background im not of the mind that i will be gun-ho in dealing with things. But you must remember that Humans are greedy by nature and there will be those who don't care who they hurt to get what they want.
The western world has great supplies of food but what happens when crops aren't grown and animals aren't fed or butchered, people from the cities will grow ill as they are surviving on only canned foods and these won't last forever.

you people have to remember that YOU may survive with all your hunting skills but most people wouldn't know where to start.

Any road, the question is what would YOU do to survive, the answer should be what ever it takes as the person who you trip to save you time to escape won't give two hoots after they're infected.
You'll still need some kind of structure and leadership within your "group". Whether it is a handful of people or a larger bunch. In the beginning it will be those with the skills to survive who will be, basically, forced to lead. They will pass on their skills. Some of those skills will involve killing. Most will involve living off grid. Video games are all about killing this one and killing that one. Suvival is about surviving. Part of that is killing most of it is finding food, clothing, shelter and avoiding death and injury.

There will also be frontier justice. Initially those who decide what is just will be the survival skilled leaders. After a while groups become larger and different people begin to do different jobs that have equal weight. At this point leaders of other skill sets will be picked and this leadership and/or the entire group will make the rules. Some people might become loners and even outcast because the group sees their skills as barbarian. Wow, that can be a whole storyline.
When are you releasing the film?
when I hit the lottery.
Indeed. That would make a hell of a story!
I'll kill/eat up all the boys and girls in my fuckin' survival journey for free and saving all the pretty girls for the last !
Ethically: Anyone who scrapes out a living deserves the things they have. You do not take life or supplies from them. Anyone who feels the opposite and seeks to take from you is fair game. Cannibalism defeats the entire purpose of existing during the ZA. We fight to survive and not become undead because we feel life is sacred.

Logically: My major concern with living off of the land comes from the tendency of viruses. Once the virus has run roughshod through the human population, where does it end? How many zombies need to die in a lake before the plants are no longer safe to eat? Even if the virus does not attack other species, it can still use them as carriers to get to us. Animals/plants in Africa have high lead content because the gasoline there is not unleaded. People are just like other animals. We contains trace amounts of everything in our food. Eating another human would essentially double all the dangerous things we are encountering. The nutritional value would be low, since they will be lacking the same things you are lacking. My logic says canned food. I would rather venture to a canning plant or grocery warehouse than eat wildlife weeks/months into the outbreak.
I just read through this thread, interesting.

I agree with Papa and Prime in the basics: that there are good people and bad people. We are a greedy society now, piggish by world standards, but how greedy can you be when everything you own is packed up on your back? Or in a little red wagon you have to pull or a shopping cart you have to push for mile upon mile?.

Your mindset changes. Stupid, greedy people will die first. Mainly because well, they are stupid and if greedy, will try to steal from others. They deserve to die. Sorry, that's how I feel.

I can eat about anything, raw or cooked. No humans, no need. Plenty of stuff to eat. If you have water, you can find something to drop into it to make a type of soup that will nourish you enough to keep going. Hell, boil worms and bugs and slug it down. Grass, wild roots, etc. As long as you have a good water supply, you can live. We eat way too much junk and nasty food as it is. That is why your poops are like they are - big and nasty. If you are eating efficiently, your body uses most everything, very little waste.

If you aren't already stockpiling now and teaching yourself basic survival and first aid, you are one of the above persons. You ain't going to make it.

There will be mini-societies, leaders, followers - it is human nature since the dawn of time, starting within the animal kingdom. We have frontier law out here. You don't dare touch a man's property or possessions. A guy's house was burned down over water rights.

You have to ask, what are you willing to live WITHOUT? Then you know what you are willing to do to survive. Most people can't imagine life without refrigeration, a microwave, store bought foods.

Other than what you do for your current job, what kind of life skills do you have? Are you willing to walk 10 miles vs driving in a car? When readily available gas is gone, you'd better have a Plan B, C, D. You better know how to cook from scratch, identify edible plants, alternative medicines, sew a pair a ripped pants and patch a tire. (Hopefully you already know how to change a tire).

I probably wouldn't kill my dogs to survive unless I really had to. They are the best alarms available, for Z's and the living. Plus they can help pack supplies and water. However, if it came to that, I would.

I would kill only to defend myself or my group. I am a leader, so I would help those who needed it, but not slackers. In a micro society, everyone has to contribute something. It is a moral booster and keeps everyone alive. Most people want to be contributors, so, I think that mindset will stay. I'd have no time for nonsense. If you are with me, my rules, because I know I am fair and just. Otherwise, hit the road on your own. You can only help people so much, then the rest is up to them. Either they get it or they don't.

I don't have to be a cannibal to survive. Would I do it? No. As stated above, no reason to. I can light a fire and the moths will come. . .
Kill innocents - if they're hostile definitely. You don't know them, they don't know you. If it's between you/your loved ones and some randomers, the choice is easy.

Probably wouldn't eat people...then you're no better than the zombies you're fighting against.

I'd kill friends/family (only) if they were bitten. I'd want it if I was in their situation and I know some of my friends/family members would want me to kill them. It's safer for everyone.

I wouldn't let people who I don't know join my group either. People are untrustworthy at the best of times, let alone when zombies are breathing down your necks.
I'm a kleptomaniac, and I would actually steal something I needed in an emergency if I thought the other person could afford to lose it (say they're hoarding water or ammunition and they have plenty to spare but aren't that nice), but overall I'm a nice person and I wouldn't have it in me to eat other people or kill for no reason unless I suffered a complete mental/emotional meltdown.
I already have a plan that includes burning down my neighbour's house.
I'm willing to eat all the survivors.
