What happens to a person, who has become so accustomed to killing zombies, when the last one is killed? When you've been encouraged to do something like that for so long, you can't really just flip the switch; nightmarish memories will surely linger and rust the mind. I think that it would take a while for the paranoia and fear to dissipate because I know that it will not leave with the last of the walking dead. Besides a couple million damaged psyches and the deterioration of civility, what other aftershocks would there be due to the zombie apocalypse?

What is the same when everything is different now?
Thanks for sharing your opinions, Sir Mark. Please, let us discuss this further...

"Any new society formed in the aftermath of the apocalypse would be the same as the ones before it." Many "apocalyptic-like" occasions exist where world/civil wars and natural disasters have altered the state of a society; these changes may be minuscule, they may be grand, but they ARE undeniably there.

"You cannot change human nature." Tell that to Ivan Pavlov. He "changed" human behavioral patterns through experimentation with various instruments of science; When the Zombie Apocalypse comes, think of it as one big experiment. However badass Rorshach may be, it is usually the individuals that deem human nature progressively-stagnant that are, themselves, incapable of change.
Things are going to change even with just the amount of people on the planet. The widespread destruction. The loss of certain knowledge and techologies. State of the art becomes State of Right Now.
Ask a soldier who has been on the front lines, he'll be able to answer the question.
What aftershocks, other then disturbed minds, would there would be after a zombie apocalypse?....hmm I'll try lol
I was referring to the state of mind one would be in after months of kill or be killed action. But you knew that :P
XD yeah just joshin ya man, I was thinking on a MACRO level though, we would have ALL been forced into taking up arms against the walking dead, not just voluntarily, but involuntarily; the able and unable, the young and the old. A soldier is the control...I'm curious as to what would become of the the variables.
I think they'll be so few people left, that it'll sort of be like the world starting over again. I think everyone will probably settle into their own spaces, and people will probably just be glad its over and get along. Maybe the world will be communist?
I hope we do learn our lessons and are finally able to get along with one another.
lol nope
How do we know we've killed them all?...

It would take generations for people to finally realise that there are no more Zombies...

People would keep doing what they had always been doing all through the invasion... Surviving...

And i can see it taking several years before organised socitys start cropping up and they would most likely have some kind of leadership system like Cheif or communist system's...

Organised trade would take even longer maby even hundreds of years as surving populations try an make contact... but War is far more likely to happen between theses groups as they vie for Land? resources? food? water? Gold? weapons? you name it and they would probably fight over it.

I Don't want to see what happens after the Zomblorg invasion... i'm far to nice for it...
We'll know we've killed them all once we reestablish some form of communication with each other; The need for a new courier system may arise (Pony Express 2?). Organized trade will also most likely take some while to form, but I doubt that it will take a few hundred years; If every surviving human were procrastinators and dumb as nails, maybe lol. Surviving is what we are doing NOW, and I hope we will be able to continue this after we are thrashed and ravaged by the undead horde.
