Rather it goes by the name of Umbrella or not, the U.S. government does have a branch of scientists working on a chemical that truely does create what we know as a zombie. Though the chemical may not be as it is portrayed in the Resident Evil series, it is a form of chemical that does reanimate dead cells. However, it was started as a form of chemical warfare, not to help people. The testing facilities for these chemicals are located on islands that people do not even know of. These are hidden from the world and cannot be found on maps or even a globe nowadays. So though it may not be the actual "Umbrella Corp." it is an actual thing.
