What is the best weapon to choose?
If there was a weapon that you can choose to have- and is common, what would it be?

even though it is true that it's not that easy making headshots with a handgun, it would be my weapon of choice. handguns don't jam often, and don't have a long reload time, and you can use em at close range real easy. they are accurate at a range of 10-15 meters and you can get a 20 meter headshot if you get skilled enough. also, the bullets are easy to find.
i wouldn't bother getting a high-calibre handgun like a desert eagle either. zombie skulls aren't that hard. just stick to a 9mm.
of course, an hard blunt object like a crowbar is useful and effective, but if you encounter 2 zombies the second one can take a little bitey-bite out of you while you're bashing away at the first corpse. you also must have the room to make a nice swing to give the crowbar the power to get through the skull.
shotguns are easy to aim and fire, but take longer to reload. and even though they are easy to aim, it takes a while to ready it. shells are easy to find, but they're big and not that easy to cary around in large amounts.
machine guns are way to heavy to run around with, can't aim shit, and not fun at all!
assault rifles are accurate, fast firing, and if you play your cards right, you can kill 30+ zombies with one mag. the real big mayer huge downside is, finding loaded mags of the right type is nearly impossible.
snipers and modern crossbows are handy and give a nice advantage, but also not a lot of ammo to find and just a drag in close combat.
rifles are nice, but also have moyor drawbacks. not a lot of ammo, not great for close quarters, long reload time.
flashbangs might stun a zombie for a while, though i'm not a 100% certain of it.
hand granades will kill a lot in one time, but have a high risk of killing you in various ways.
molotovs are just dumb. zombies aren't scared of fire, don't burn fast and smell even more awefull when on fire.
uzi's are worth a try when you're facing a whole group of zombies standing side by side but the damage done is usually really low and you can't aim shit with em.
granade launchers will do the trick when you encounter lots of zombies, but ammo is nearly impossible to find and you don't want to shoot at a zombie with a granade launcher when it is just a few feet away.
high calibre handguns make headshots fun, but ammo is harder to find and mags are usually smaller. the damage is considerable though.
poisons and anesthetics aren't usually a good idea, but maybe you'll be able to subdue a zombie that way.
anti personel mines are usefull against zombies but unfortunately also against fellow survivors. bet you won't be suspecting a landmine while walking though a city infested with zombies...
rpg's and other rocket launchers will kill zombies, are easy to fire, hard to aim (but you don't have to, most of the time) but the ammo is heavy, the weapons are heavy and you won't find extra ammo.
emp weapons : an electro magnetic pulse might kill the one zombie with a pacemaker, but the rest will be unaffected and you'll sit in the dark from that point on..
robots are very usefull; find one now!
laser rail guns are very handy and will kill everything but too hard to find. there was one in racoon city but it was blown apart just like the rest of the city....

actually
the uzi is a relable and Accurate weapon, stick that sucker on semi and you got your self a really accurate overgrown pistol
and for the most part most machine guns are as accurate if not more so than most assault rifles' for example the M240 uses a 7.62 round and it can hit a man at 700~ yds. compared to a smaller caliber M4a3 which can easily hit a man out at 500~, the machine gun has a better graduated iron sight system for longer range....a nd a grenade launcher wouldn't do shit unless the fragments killed the brains

Give me a 700 yard head shot with the 240. Do the same with the M-4 at 500. Use iron sites with both. Not impossible but not likely. Short to medium range weapons are the flavor of the day when dealing with Zombies. IMO!. Semi-Auto is a must. Sparay and pray wastes ammo. Uzis are nice on Semi. Small and easy to carry. Lots od 9mm ammo out there to be had too. Good call on the Uzi. Or MAC.

IT IS HARD TO SAY. WE ALL HAVE A FAV BUT IF THERE IS MANY ZOMBIES HOW DO YOU TAKE THEM ALL OUT. A HEAD SHOT IS BEST BUT TRY TO GET 20 CLEAN SHOTS OFF AT SOMETHING THAT IS MOVING. UP CLOSE ONE ON ONE A GOOD SWORD IS GREAT SO IS A BAT. IT THERE IS 5 ZOMBIES IN YOUR LIVING ROOM YOU ARE NOT GONA GET THE SHOTS OFF TO GET THEM ALL. I WILL TAKE A BLOCK OF C4 I WILL NOT BECOME ONE AND I WILL TAKE THEM OUT WITH ME...... A SEMI AUTO RIFLE AND A GROUP OF PEOPLE THAT CAN SHOOT AND KEEP CALM WILL BE BEST.

Best weapon- Shotgun (easy to use, easy head shots and common ammo)
most impractical but effective- thermite (burns at around 2000°C, it's just a question of how to get it on them)
