My ideal hideout would be a rooftop because there is only one door up and i can weld it shut or barricade it, i would have my arsenal of weapons with me including but not limited to my .308 sniper rifle, my SC20K, my G36C, and of course my M4A1 asault rifle with an M203 grenade launcher and an ACOG scope. from there i would have all my weapons, my food, my girlfriend, and all my still alive best friends.i wouldnt have to worry if one of them became infected somehow because i could just push/shoot them off the roof. and i would have a great vantage point of any nearby zombies...kinda like the S.T.A.R.S. members in Resident Evil 2, just without the Tyrant

a wooded mountain top, with a stream. zombies cant climb, bandits cant see me from the air or land. if the trees were tall enough or strong enough, i would build interconnected tree houses for sleeping and watching, and a concrete perimeter fence, with barbed wire and parapets.
Your tree top stronghold Kinda sounds like an ewok village. Will there be log traps to smash storm troopers... I mean zombies?
yeah, a lot of log traps. and a lot of explosives. a lot
lol. Tyrant arrives...
My ideal hideout from a Zombie attack would be a Super Walmart: They have everything! It would almost be like living in the Williamette Mall in Dead Rising...
Yeah, the Super Walmart is one of the best places to hide. They really do have everything.
A two story home. First level windows barricaded with sandbags and plywood. metal or hardwood doors. My place is made of stone so my walls are good. I'd stack sand bags around the walls if they were wood or siding. Sand bags are a lot of work. Entrance and exit would be through the second level via ladders. This would be temporary until I could set up 12 foot perimeter fencing and a gate. I'd have an internal 12 foot perimeter fence with wire from top to bottom on the out facing side. I'd lay concertina wire on the ground coming up to the fence. You ever get stuck in that shit? A zed might not feel the pain but he'd get tangled for sure. The gate would be a heavy duty garage door. Lift over top instead of slide. It would lead in to a sally port with a sliding security gate on the other end. I'd have two posts above the fence to check on what comes through the sally port. Two large wind turbines for power.

This sin't exactly a hideout it is a compound. It would take time, manpower and machinery to get done. In a Zpoc all you have to do is find what you need and stay alive.
You would die in a day. A Zombie outbreak wont give u the time to create what ur mind created. Good thought though.
My sailboat and me, in the gulf close enough to shore to see whats going on, but deep enough not to worry about Z's, you can live off the sea, boat has a Aqua Whisper Mini water desalination plant, and solar and wind recharger for power, I'm set!
You would die in a month. U cannot rely on what you think is reliable. Choose again.
My ideal hideout would be either a nearest Church, a 2 storey buildings or a mall...
You can pray and then fight ... or you can hide and survive ...
or the last option; you can survive, pray, fight and still enjoying the fun life inside the mall while you still can !
PS. but I guess woods or jungle would be a perfect hideout for a while ... from the Z's !!!
Someone mentioned an Ewok village in a different thread. That's a good idea.
Ewoks would be a good source of protein too, if you can get past all that damn fur
