What is your one horrible weakness in a Zpoc? You'll be surprised to hear mine

Ok, I have the skills, the equip, the location, etc in real time in the real world. As I have mentioned many times, I live 100% off grid in the Rockies.

So what's my biggest fear or weakness? What scares the shit out of me?

I wear glasses.  I am horribly myopic to the point that without corrective lenses I can see clearly only about 8 inches in front of me.  Genuine coke bottles!  Typically I wear contacts and have several pairs of glasses on hands.

But contacts eventually break down and get rips, pin holes or rough edges.  And they have an expiration date, wherein the plastics also get weaker the older they get, even unopened, so they don't last as long and would be kinda worthless after 10-15 years of stockpiling. And they have maintantence issues with cleaning, solution, etc.

And glasses get scratched up, break or are easily ripped off your face. Plus they impede your vision during rain and get fogged up easily  (Try wearing glasses in a gas mask sometime)

This concerns me to the point that I have seriously considered Lasik, because this is my one big Achilles' Heel in life.  Especially when it comes to night vision, I'd be absolutely useless without glasses on or contacts in.  I could see well enough during the day to drive a car, but not well enough to scout the horizon or shoot and actually hit something.

So, what is your Achille's Heel - what is your one horrible weakness that may end up causing your demise or swing the advantage against you in a disaster or Zpoc?

im kinda overweight and cant run for very long lol, I just hope its the slow zombies and not the sprinters.
Tyler, an easy fix is to start walking and learn to pace yourself, eventually you'll be able to trot along easily.

And exercise your BRAIN too. Strategy is more important than speed in most cases.
Same with the vision but not to your extent, I have two pairs of perscription hardened plastic goggle type sunglasses that I used for Rugby, they will be fine for anything short of a hammer hit lol. Lazer eye is certainly an option but it can only be done once. I plan on waiting a good 15 years until a new technology for improving eyesight (beyond chopping bits off your eyeball) come about.
in 15 years I'll be cataract material - if a bear or snake doesn't get me first and probably senile to boot, LOL
I have the same problem too Tori, without my glasses or contacts I cant see squat.
When it comes right down to it the killing may be hard to stop. I don't tolerate people well either.
You'd do the right thing. Ultimately, you are a leader and one of the good guys. However, a couple of gun stocks to the head would alert the assholes not to mess with you. Ever!
I'm soon to be 45 yearls old. Most of my life has been spent in professions where the thought/possibility of killing someone has always been in my face. Whether it was in the military where that was the job or as a cop where that is a possibility, I have been trained to kill people. I've also been trained to know good from bad and right from wrong but when the Shit Hits The Fan who is to say what is right and wrong? I've been in the shoot no shoot situation in my career. IAfter you are shooting everything that moves how hard is it to stop?
Good point, Prime.

It would be a tough call, esp under the conditions of lawlessness, greed and terror.
That too is a worry of mine Prime. I wonder how easy it would be to turn off killing mode. Although, Im not a fan of Max Brooks as you know, I do like World War Z. There is a character in there who moved to another country to hunt left over zombies for hire, because he couldn't turn off the killing instinct. My uncle was a Green Beret who spent 2 tours in Vietnam, and did time in El Salvador and Colombia before he ritired. He sat down with me before my first deployment to Afghanistan and told me to keep my feet on the ground. He told me about his experiences in Nam, and El Salvador. It was something he rarely talked about, but he told me that everytime he would come home it was hard to control his temper. When I first came back and had some leave we went on a fishing trip and spent the weekend talking about my time over seas. It was hard for me to control my temper when I first came back. Little things would sorta set me off. Some drunk douchebag at a bar, someone cutting me off in traffic. I wonder sometimes if it would be easy to turn it all off myself. Lets up we never have to find out.

I recall that character in the book. I read them both. It would be hard to turn off. My question is, would we have to turn it off? If the plague goes world wide .gov will be decimated. I see a future more like Reign of Fire. Just substitute dragons with zeds. There is no government except for self rule in minor cities and strongholds. If you are outside you are on your own and life is a gamble at best. I don't believe any current .gov around the world is strong enough to survive a Zpoc. Not the way they run things currently. If a Zpoc struck right this minute do you know how many stinky zeds would be flooding Wall St?

People will learn to barter and trade. The Free Market will be trully free. those who abuse others won't be tolerated. Those who abuse themselves won't last long either. Many people with habdicaps and diseases that need constant care will not be around. Of those people who do survive, will have found ways to get things done. They will be the one that worked twice as hard as anyone else and they wil be thw freeest of all.

I'm diabetic. :\

I have a 0% chance of survival once I run out of insulin, and can only last about 24 hours without food...if I'm lucky.

lol...but aside from the whole certain death thing...I'd do perfectly fine in a zompocalypse.
