Oh Sweet! A Quiz! Keanu Reeves in Speed? Okay, here I go...
1). what would you do first?
c.gather a group
Technically, my group is already prepared and we have a meeting place as well. Gathering everyone together will be of paramount importance though. We are planning on running drills here and there to practice, with randomized issues tossed in (roads impassable, etc.). We have primary and secondary meeting places set so that everyone knows "If you can't make it here, then go there." Everyone knows where we will be going after we meet up so there is a third option as well. What we can't really decide on is at what point we bug out. It is not safe to assume that communications (phones, cellphones, email, etc.) will be available or funtional so we need to decide on something...for now, our drills will be via text message.
2). were would you go?
c.the country side
We have a camping site in the deep woods that we use frequently in warm weather and in cool weather we will be using a camp on a nearby pond that belongs to my family. The camp is a little closer to civilization so it will not be an end point.
3). what is your weapon of choice?
Like Prime, I carry a bugout bag in my truck and my wife has one for both her and my son in her vehicle. Everything else is in well packed storage bins inside our residence for quick and easy transport.
4).what would you wear?
Probably whatever I have on at the time. If I am home at the time the decision is made, I do have a few options available to me that I might utilize, including some tactical vests and body armor I may at least bring with me...
Permalink Reply by Killer on September 28, 2011 at 1:22pm I would gather food first, everyone else would be worried about weapons and so (hopefully) someone from whatever group I found myself a part of would have that taken care of.
And all the weapons I need are at home in my garage anyhow!
I load up my Suburban full of my family and supplies and head straight for the country side.
MY weapon of choice would have to be a sturdy, well constructed, long handled axe with a double head.
Something closefitting so that nothing could grab on to it, or get caught on it, but also comfortable.
I would also have to cut off all of my long hair :(

A. For all you folks who would gather food first. Why don't you have it gathered already? Are you going to the market? Too late, everyone else got there first. Now you're SOL. That means you are Shit Out of Luck.
B. Gather your group. Well you'd better have a meeting place away from large gathering locations. The sick and dead will be at the schools, police stations, hospitals/medical centers/clinics, malls, Wally World, military posts/NG Armories and most every other place you can think people will gather. If you've thought of it so have others. You should have a plan in place so people are helping eachother. If one or two people work in a certain area they meet up at their chosen location before moving to the rally point. From the Rally point you all move to a predetermined BOL. You head to the places where everyone else is going and you're Shit Out of Luck.
C. The same for those who will gather weapons. Where you gonna get them? Are you gonna run to Wally World with everyone else. Guess what, IF your Wal Mart has guns in the store the ones in the display are it. You're gonna run to Bass Pro, Cabela's or a sporting goods store? Yeah, what about the people there already? As soon as the SHTF the people working, if they have a brain in their heads, are going to lock up and go defensive. You have no chance of getting in if they don't want you to. They don't have to care you're a little kid or a woman or the best tactical dude with no weapon around. They have the upper hand and if you've got nothing to offer them again you are Shit Out of Luck.

A. Heading for the conrtyside. Where you gonna go? Do you have a place already set up. If it isn't family or a friend how well are you going to be received? You may be as welcome at someone's farm as the zeds. Think about it. ZPOC and someone sneaking in my perimieter (my perimeter isn't small). Well let's just say you can't tell the difference between someone who was a Zed and someone who wasn't a Zed before they are laying on the ground with a hole in their head. You're gonna rough it in the national forest. See 1B. You're going to run out in the woods and live off the land right? Some of you may have hunted and may have gone camping. Some of you. Some of you may know how to skin and quarter a deer. Some may not know how.
B. Two story house. Well you have to come out sometime. Water supply runs low, food runs out. Sanitation turns gawd aweful. Don't breath too deep.
C. Boat. Gotta come to land sometime. Fuel and fresh water. Can't eat seaweed forever or can you. Sanitation can be an issue. Might work until you're adrift after an onboard fire (yeah it as in a movie). Might work, might get killed. Back Up Plan.

Oh yeah, WEAPONS. I want a 50 cal this and a 40 S&W that and an AR/AK/SKS NAGANT 357-480-5.56-7.62 rail gun. Some people have used and own the weapons they mention. Some people haven't been any closer to a weapon of worth then their video game controller. Guess what, life is not like a video game. You don't pick up a gun and automatically know how to use it. You don't get unlimited amounts of ammo. Where's the safety, is the weapon zeroed? Is the damn thing even loaded? Nothing like a newb screamin "Why won't this thing shoot?" You don't pick up a sword, kukri, k-bar or trench knife and become a killing machine. People, you don't get unlimited lives.

Clothing, What will you wear? LOL, who freaking gives a shit? It isn't a fashion show people. When possible get in to something rugged and comfortable. Hip huggers and belly shirts aren't going to cut it. You ever wear full body armor before? Some of us have done it for a living others have done it to live. Don't fool yourself. If you haven't worn it before you've got some getting used to.
That being said, I'm not here to discourage anyone. I am here to encourage you. To encourage you toGet Prepared. Get your shit straight before the shit hits the fan. If you don't have some level of preparedness don't expect to be cared for by others.

Permalink Reply by PRIME_Ω_PREDATOR on October 2, 2011 at 2:00pm Is noone else gathering food, weapons and a group now? I felt the first earthquake in my 45 years this summer here in Pa. We've had outrageous rain for the last couple weeks. Texas is burning and in drought. The east coast is barraged with hurricanes and the west coast is swamped with red tide. Tornadoes in the midwest and unbearable snows in the northern states. Any of the disasters that occur in this country and others can leave people stranded for days at a time and it isn't common to prepare yourself and your family for these things. Keep relying on the .gov to care for you. I hope those who aren't prepared like those camps and living in football stadiums. Look at Katrina. Look at the recent hurricanes on the east coast. Cities flooded and shut down. I was stuck. I couldn't get to work for two days. I was pissed too but I was nice and comfy. I can go for a couple weeks now just eating what I have stored. That's without teaming up with neighbors to buy a steer to slaughter or pooling our fuel to run tractor generators. I have my own small generator that runs my refrigerators and freezer. Extra gas is in the garage.
Supermarkets are stocked for 3 days tops. If trucks can't move they don't get restocked.
Come on people. I know there are a number of us here who prep. I also know of one of us who lives the lifestyle. Are the rest of the people on this site so sure the .gov will care for them? LOL! If you're prepared for ZEDS you'll be prepared for any disaster. I'd bet less then 10% of the active members on this site are prepared to last for more then 4 days.
So everyone calm down. Don't worry. The .gov will take care of you. They'll put you in a nice camp facility where criminals hussle and push people around. Where disease is more easily passed because of cramped over crowded conditions. You really can't leave until they want you to. I'll think about you when I'm sitting in front of my fireplace relaxing.

Permalink Reply by PRIME_Ω_PREDATOR on October 2, 2011 at 4:02pm People who think they are regular and normal look down at us and think we are nuts. We're just people who don't want to depend on the .gov to get by. A lot of people today depend and demand that the .gov be their caretaker. It's been drilled in to us for more then 40 years.
Permalink Reply by Zombie Hunter 223 on October 4, 2011 at 9:52am I hear ya. One things for sure you wont find me and my family in one of those diseased ridden gov shelters, I know what their like and I know the kind of people that go to those places. They have bed bugs and skin diseases, really nasty places.
