I'm of the belief that for a Zombie movie to be truly great it has to somehow add to the genre. For instance: Night of the Living Dead first introduced the idea that you must destroy the brain/head to kill a Zombie. What would you most like to see in a new Zombie movie?

I could see The Walking Dead working as a series, and yes, kids are a part of it, but they also are not the primary focal point. Go pick up some of the books, and I think you guys would like it.
I would really like to see zed with some kind of thought process. No matter how minimul. If that means actually walking around a barricade or just forgetting about it and pursuing another victim or simply walking off. Another thing I would like to see is a kind of special infected as mentioned before. But not like a smoker, but more like a hunter. A single, lone-wolf type that could quite possibly be stalking you all the time and then getting away.
Or maybe a natural leader that the others blindly follow...Like a president.
BLINDLY!!
I agree that they should have some kind of intelligence. It may not be a thought process that we are familiar with, or one that we would expect. What I am suggesting is that they would not be higher functioning but would think of themselves as a group. working together to get there food. I always consider that you would want a house that has bars on the first floor. So, you might see them using each other to get to a higher floor. Negating, any first floor defenses. Also, they may call for each other at times they find themselves in trouble.
Hi guys, i have been looking for a site like this for ages, i am an australian and a zombie fanatic, however i agree with the fact that walking zombies are too easy just look at shaun of the dead, walking zombies can be walked around with ease and picked off one by one where as running or at least briskly moving zombies can be on you before you have time to react, however this brings us to real life, once dead a body decays as this happens muscles fail this meaning that in the beginning stages of infection we have fast moving threats and as the infection progresses the zombies decay to a point where they cease to function, one other thing that shawn of the dead offers is the notion of Fooling the infected to think you are one of them, now i would not like to see this in anything other than a comedy but it does bring me to think why? why do they attack us and how do they find us in all of the zombie movies, can they smell us or can they just sense us, im starting to babble a bit here its just so good to find a group of ppl who share my passion, also i am currently attempting to write a book with my ideas for a zombie survival, dealing with the fact that here in australia, guns are illegal for the general public so most of us would have to rely on every day blunt instruments or blades, sorry for the long post this has just been a long time coming, i am interested in any comments made, Thanks all, Gareth
the body mostly decays through bacteria and animals picking on the corpse but if like a coyote or other scavenger bites off a hunk of flesh the zombie could reach around and grab it or in Max Brooks zombies the animal would just die. this would mean that zombies decay much slower because the zombie physiology is inhospitable to most if not all forms of life including bacteria.
the reason mummies stay preserved is because the remains aren't exposed to the elements i mentioned before.
but ur reasoning for runners and then shamblers is solid
the best zombie movie ever would keep you moving. not trapped in a mall or welding together a battle vehicle. It would be a combo of Cranked and Smokin Aces. Lots of gun play and personality. Maybe there would be room for those that feel it is inevitable and that they are prepared. Maybe a little Omega Man. I certainly would like it brutal and deadly.
I agree with the people here asking for a zombie/post-apocalyptic series, more so than a film. The thought of a mixture of Robert Kirkman's comic books 'The Walking Dead' meets Stephen King's 'The Stand' makes me salivate!
I'm surprised this type of show hasn't already been made - I think the potential fan-base is there. As long as they didn't let it drag on for a thousand seasons and include bizzare plot-lines that never get explained (... a la 'Lost').
Joe, I think you mean the other way...I think most characters lose their emotions towards the end of the movie, end up not caring anymore, and becoming a bad-ass with no fear. It's unrealistic, you either are a bad ass, or your not. You don't turn into one just because.

They need to show more fear...Cops that turn to cowering puddles of goo, The House wife who takes karate or tae kwan do...and the other doomed housewife who thinks Cardio Kickboxing means they know how to fight...or how about the group of kids who become uncontrollably free, and the ones who are truely afraid of everything happening...both men and women who become completely hysterical from the unfortunate turn of events...and that one guy who's never been in a fight before, thinking he's a badass and getting himself eaten...leave the fightin' to the professionals homie...we got this...

But I think it needs to extend farther, I'm sorry, but with more than 6 billion people on earth, if 75% are dead, that still leaves 1.5 billion people...and the 5-10 locked up in a house/mall/shed/facility cannot be the only survivors in an entire city...where are all these people?
I completely agree with you on the unrealistic "I'm a Badass Now" theme. Real world soldiers don't turn into John Rambo after coming back from duty, they come back with lost extremities, PTS, and other various mental/social disorders. Just because you go through something trying, doesn't mean you'll always come out of it "harder". More experienced/ desensitized? yes, Harder? Hell no. It can sometimes make you even weaker. When you put something through a grinder, it doesn't come out solid, it comes out as pulp...You said it perfectly " [you're] either a badass, or [you're] not."

1.5 Billion people spread across globally would still actually make spotting another survivor really difficult (especially when they're all trying to hide), but you're right, there should be at least a few dozen more than 5-10 in a specific area. Movies man, always with the flashiness, no substance (Night of the Living dead 2 and Day of the Dead not included).
Agreed. There will likely be many pretenders about but the real stand up folks will stand out.

1.5 Billion is still a lot of people. I believe that most people will be grouped in small onclaves. They will gather together for safety. There will be a number of loners too. I believe it would be much like the movie "The Postman" with walled towns and folks who travel between them. There will be outsider groups of scavengers and raiders and occasional well armed larger groups that could cause a problem or solve them.
