What's the deal?
Is it generally accepted that zombies moan? If the heart has stopped, so has breathing, so how is that possible. Also if there is no oxygen being passed through the body, or air for that matter, how does a Zed have the ability to have a heightened sense of smell? We all know that they are a 'walking' contradiction, but doesn't this make it more so?
For the moaning bit, I believe that it could be air escaping the bowels from stuffing there face with our faces. Right?

The virus would have to find brand new DNA (new species) to adapt to it or combine with another virus which would dillute its potency.

Avian and Swine influenza which is common in birds and pigs, mutated to infect humans that were living in dirty conditions in extremely close contact to infected animals. Conceivably, the campion virus could mutate the same way.

Do your homework kids. the Avian Flu and Swine flu have always been transferable to humans, that's why they've made such a big deal about it. these strains don't mutate to further infect, they mutate after they've infected a new host. Flu strains get stronger after being poorly treated with medications, making them stronger.
In the case of the campion virus, it mutates yes, but it mutates multiple times based upon our inability to treat it.

So, in escence, a shot in the chest is just as effective as a bullet to the head?
If they have an infection, so be it. If they are possessed, so be it. But Unless they are dead, they don't meet the qualification of a zombie, which is dead...
