When the world finally ends in hands of zombies, would you travel around it or make a fortress somewhere?

I always thought, would it be better if that day i travel alone or with some friends in a convoy, (like claire redfield RE3 movie) or just live in a fortress or some place with guns and waiting for more ppl or something?

im a more nomad person so i would learn to fly jets and sail through the world

Well, aside from using one of those 18th century forts I'd probably sail to an offshore island using a small motor boat, or something of the likes. I do realize that making shelter on an island would be rather hard, , b ut hey, better off there than on the mainland where zeds are waiting.
I wrote a story called Fort Wal-mart some years ago. I live in a small city/town and the zombie population would be easier to avoid then in larger areas. Most Wal-marts have two front door ways that can be covered with moving vans. Flatten the tires and you have blocked the only easy ways in. The other doors are all steel.

You also have the automotive area with metal garage doors. This would allow you to launch raids to other stores or towns for supplies.

The down side to staying in one spot is sooner or later you could get trapped with no way out. And with more people you run the risk of some one opening a door at the wrong time. Children will need constant supervision. They will have to be taught to survive in a new world where old rules do not apply.

The zeds will not be the only threat. Maybe not even the biggest. Once the laws breakdown groups of raiders will hit any place with anything they might want. Women would be seen as property and crimes against them would sky rocket. So moving around might be the best way to go. The larger the convoy the better.
Yeah you played Fallout 3, or Borderlands, Watched dawn of the dead, RE3, and maybe Mad max and the book of secrets......

but its a good one , until some asshole opens a door...
In a convoy wit Ali Larter and Milla Jovovic with some handsome dudes? ...
What a perfect last journey !

PS.it's not only zombies that lurking around, the outlaw gangs are also a nice threat to deal wit ...

LASS
I like it more like Mad Max style, going on my own with my dog, maybe make alliance with some dudes but not to depend of any living thing.....juste freedom hahaha
Ever watch "A Boy and his Dog" with a very young Don Johnson?
Nope, also in fallout 3 and i am leyend, both main dudes have a dog...
i just think depending on how many people you have, food and water would be a cause of concern in an place that you stay.
and I am in Canada, so the weather is also concern. Winter would need heat.
I think it would be most advantageous to travel around as much as you can in low population areas, you know looting groceries and gasoline.
I believe eventually some semblance of a government would form and an official camp would be set up.
Here in Canada I think it would be logical to set it up on Vancouver Island, so separate from the mainland and easier to defend once cleared of zombies.
So I guess I would head for the coast too. Seems to me to be the best plan, cruise ship or no.
Yeash im in mexico city the most populated one, so i think if i travel i could use islands, finding more survivors there and re-supply
I would like to do both, set up a 'fortress 'and have a vehicle as well, but vehicle would be good, maybe an rv, or a full sized van, with a couch that can fold out into a bed...
i think you can use it, (if its bigger than i think, and it can carry more than 5) as a fortified convoy....

have you ever watched claire redfields convoy in RE3 movie??
I think i would stay in a safe place i mean not many places to travel to except if you are looking out for like more survivors or supplies and whatnot
