Theoretically If The Military Force Present At Yonkers Would Have Ran Over The Undead With Tank And Other Heavy Treaded Vehicles, Couldnt They Have Atleast Crippled The Mass Majority Of Them And Swung The Conflict In Our Favor??

the point of The Battle Of Yonkers in WWZ is zombies are a unconventional enemy that the military was not ready and did not know how to fight yet.
no, it wouldn't make a good ending to the story...
Alex and Jericho have good points, but if a real battle such as the Battle of Yonkers actually took place, I think that heavy, armored vehicles would decimate the ranks of the undead just due to the fact that their arms and legs would be crushed under the weight, disabling any kind of movement. This would enable us to pretty much go around with a 9mm and put slugs in their heads as they lay on the ground and wait for it.
yes but first the terror caused by the zombies not dying when someone puts 8 rounds in its chest would cause a lot of fear in the soldiers inside and outside of armored vehicles making a lot of them break ranks and flee before that happens
Soldiers are scared all the time, war is scarry, that is why they go to boot camp to learn discipline, so they don't break ranks.
The major point I took from that battle was that our technology was very advanced but skewed towards combating each other. They used some sort of hive mind communication devices that allowed the terror spread extremely fast. That technology backfiring was the most poignant part for me.
As for the heavy vehicles, I think any zombie conflict would unfold a little more favorably in the real world than in most fiction. Very few writers allow their characters to have meta-knowledge of how to combat zombies, that we all have already. I do not see them stopping the spread of the disease on one battlefield, but I would expect a better fight down to the last bullet, the last grenade, and the last ounce of fuel. I would definitely take a tank over hundreds of Zeds.
most of these are valid points, but in my military experience(I am on my 4th deployment right now) any heavy vehicles that we have would be placed behind concrete barriers and barricades. as a sort of 'fire from behind cover' for heavy vehicles and weapons. as in the battle of yonkers, they were set up and waiting on the z's to come to them, therefore they were probably(i dont remember the exact details on the set up from the book) behind the concrete barriers, and moving them around and in front of the barriers on a short notice, is not really an option at the point of visual contact with the enemy.
