Today I picked up two books that for some people are the bibles to Zombies. World War Z and The Zombie Survival Guide. I haven't read either before. Maybe I'll get an education, maybe not. The Survival Guide was in the Humor section of Borders Books. I'm thinking of holding back on my blog story until I've read through part of the books.

WWZ was a good read as a piece of fiction. ZSG is well......not a survival guide. It has some valid points but a general survival book will give you better information and usually from someone with some experience. Remember Brooks wrote it as humor and from what I can gather has no training or experience in either survival or weapons.
I liked WWZ as it wasn't your typical zombie story-line where you follow one set group of teenagers who are the only survivors left in the world etc etc. It definately delivered something new by crossing over lots of different characters in lots of different situations.
But yes it is a piece of fiction and as with all zombie related works, the rights go to the author as to how zombies (and survivors) behave. For that reason no zombie book, no matter how beautifully written it is, should be treated as a bible for the know-all and do-all in a Zed apoc.
Max Brooks FTW!
wow you peaple are putting almst full faith in brooks? i never read it but in order to find out if half the shit in them are true you need to try it. brooks never did try it. so half of it is guess work. im not sayin he dosnt know what hes doin but... if it could help wouldnt the feds stop pubblishing of his books call him crazy and sentence him to life in prison? plus the books in comedy my friend got it cause he tought it looked cool on his shelf never read it but to survive in a zpoc you need skill. skill you cant learn from a book if you need to survive look up wilderness survival then mess around building shit from scratch bows arrows traps hunting and human ect prime your a survivalist why do you need more info? im the best survivalist in my family i doubt it compares to you but still... you should return those books
The books were entertaining. I don't agree with a lot of what Brooks wrote.
I wouldnt say full faith in Brooks. From my viewpoint(im a bit of a survivalist, meaning i like to go out camping with nothing but a few things in my pack for a few days) hes on the money with a lot of things, even if he only half assed knew what he was talking about, it appears to me that the man did his research, and did it well and thoroughly. So i do hold his books in a little bit more high regard than i probably should.
