Seriously guys, protection and zombieproof gear is for pansies. The only thing that's going to keep you safe is looking as sharp as possible. How will you dress to kill during zpoc? Nearly every zombie film has some badass in a slick costume at some point or other. I don't want to hear about your fancy 'chainmail' or 'flak jacket' rubbish, will you go for the ninja style? Biker? Will you go for the mysterious cloaked stranger effect or the obvious warrior? Get inventive here.

Edit: C'mon lads, you're doing it wrong. You're being, dare i say, practical..? I want interesting, not sensible.

I would think dressing the area and something usefull would do good...so I composed this appearance, its semi-protective and still cool looking.

from the boot up.

surplus military boots with WWII infantry kanvas Gators.
a comfrotable levis "carpenter" jeans.
looped belt with knife sheath, pistol holster
over belt with rifle mag pouches and mics pouches (canteen, flashlight, etc, etc)
black t-shirt tucked in.
shoulder holsters (maybe)
my lime green Apline jacket http://images.ifguk.co.uk/products/1762/1762-large1.jpg
and a Half hunting mask to cover my ID an protect from zed splater in CQC http://www.ironhorsehelmets.com/images/Zan/Neoprene_Facemask_Half_W...
thinking on wearing my black Kepi, but I don't think it'll sit right with the general appearance http://thickitycreek.com/blue-kepi-1.jpg {a similar look}
Full set of Soldier '95 gear and a Templar Assault System. Not only is it FUNCTIONAL, but you look more professional that way. Besides, I have slight problems with long, flowing clothing. Uhm, let's call them "stupid, bound-to-get-me-killed" problems. And I would also have an UZI watch, Tritium gear tags, and matte black dogtags with silencers. Naturally, I would make it all dark grey.
Except the Tritium, obviously. Seeing as how Tritium is radioactive and glows. Really. It really does glow.
Also, I would make the following additions/changes:

The Tritium Light Sources (good for 10+ years without charging or solar power--the halflife of the tritium makes this possible):

From the head down:
Camo hat
Hair cut short
Shark tooth
Denim jacket
Camo shirt
Military backpack
Fingerless glove
Belt to hold ammo/melee weapons
Jeans
Camo boots (I liked the idea about reinforcing the toe with metal)

My weapons would be a black, scoped rifle with a strap, a pistol, a machete, a tire iron and a good, unserrated knife with a black finish.
I like your style.
you like your denim eh?
