Seriously guys, protection and zombieproof gear is for pansies. The only thing that's going to keep you safe is looking as sharp as possible. How will you dress to kill during zpoc? Nearly every zombie film has some badass in a slick costume at some point or other. I don't want to hear about your fancy 'chainmail' or 'flak jacket' rubbish, will you go for the ninja style? Biker? Will you go for the mysterious cloaked stranger effect or the obvious warrior? Get inventive here.

Edit: C'mon lads, you're doing it wrong. You're being, dare i say, practical..? I want interesting, not sensible.

how do you figure its not practical? because i dont have to rummage through my walmart bags to find my chewing gum? or maybe because instead of carrying everything in a backpack, all i have to do is reach into one of the dozens of pockets i have. One of my favorite sayings is "A place for everything and everything in its place." why dont you let me worry about my equipments practicality and you can sport your duct tape tuxedo or whatever it is youll be wearing. Furthermore, instead of knitpicking my equipment, why dont you post your own carry.
Not to be nasty or anything...but how do you figure that most of it is not practical? Ok...I'll give you the rear view mirror glove, but then I've never even seen a set of those. The rest of it actually looks like some good basic equipment.

First off have you ever worn actual combat gear...in combat or in the field for any extended period of time? Not days...but weeks and months. I'm not being a smart ass - just asking a question. I served as a Corpsman to Marines for over 20 years (Infantry, Wing, SpecOPs-ANGLICO). I lived through a huge number of changes in 782 gear during that period running from left over crap from WWII and the Korean War up to the end of Vietnam and through Desert Storm. Lots of changes, some good and some not so good. The stuff out there now is incredible and awesome when you compare it to WWII, Korean war, Vietnam, up through Desert Storm, and the current ongoing efforts in Afghanistan and OIF.

My best recommendation when you get some new gear is to take it out and BREAK IT! Get it dirty, sweaty and muddy. Bang it up, Beat the hell out of it and see if it really works and does the job you need. Evaluate everything with a jaundiced eye for need, practicality and efficiency. If it works for you...then it works for you!

LB...if it works for you - GO FOR IT!!
shit man just thing for a moment were are you talking LOST ZOMBIES!! this is in case of a Zombie apocalypse not the Third World War!!! they bite not shoot, i dont understand a bulletproof jacket , the boots and the military suit. You can just use your pijama man, the backpack its useful yeah and the belt and googles maybe but , this is in case of zombies, not fucking wars....

asnd yeah i ised military equipment , im not here writing stupid comments, saying i can use a helmet in case some zombie bites me in the head lolz.
if you did use military equipment, then you would understand that that is a tactical vest and not body armor. there is a difference, although im sure you already knew that.

and the "military suit" is called an ACU, (advanced combat uniform) and the only reason i would choose that over say bluejeans and a t-shirt is because most ACUs, at least all of the ones that ive worn are made of...ok so i forget what its called off the top of my head, but the point is that the fabric is tear resistant. As opposed to you cotton jeans and shirt. The 6 o'clock gloves are the only thing ive never used before. however, the concept is promising.

And for anyone whos asking i served as 11 bangbang (thats 11B i.e. Infantry) for almost 3 years until i was discharged due to a back injury. a fracture of the L3 and L4 vertebrate if you need to know.
Ok...go easy on the guy...and remember we're talking about the Zombie Apocalypse...that's Z-Day...not...D-Day.

And you have to admit that against Zed's you don't need a flak/bulletproof vest you need a shark suit. Though a good set of Motorcycle Armor and leathers would do a decent job of protecting you from bites. BTW...the fabric is called Rip-Stop and we (USN & USMC) simply called the "suit" Cammies.or BDU's i.e. Battle Dress Uniforms.

Personally I'd wear at least level three body armor.
Skinny jeans, jimmy hendrix purple haze t shirt, some lightweight boots, and an orange top hat. I dont need no weapons either. i kill da motha fuckas wit my hans
i dont understand where the idea of armor came from, as afore said its a tactical vest. It offers no more protection than a leather vest if that. I believe that the Rip Stop, (thanks for the clarification of the name,) is all ill need, when i was in basic training we had a recruit hit our PG in the leg with a E tool and that didnt cut through the ACU so to my knowledge a bit wouldnt penetrate/contaminate. however the damage would be about the same.
I would think that the use of IBA would be useful in that you could still use it the way we do now. After all, people are going to be scared and VERY trigger happy, so having a set of Level 4 wouldn't be such a bad idea if you're going into an area where there could be survivors. As for the Rip Stop, thats all its good for. Stopping rips. A bite would still rip oen your arm (or whereever) and the infection would enter as normal. It's not meant to protect you, just lengthen the service life of the uniform.
starting from head down fro pick with a fist, goggles and snorkel, green ascot, bright red road work vest, red white and blue wrist bands, jock strap, knee pad on right knee and floral print galoshes knife duck taped to the side
Now if you're talking EPIC apocalypse outfit....you could go REALLY EPIC:
