SO everyone has their reasons for the outbreak and the whole epidemic, n I'm gonna say mine is a bit of a crazy theory. Humans are basically a virus that walks the face of the planet, using up every resource until there is nothing left to take. We try to control nature instead of work with it, and I say it's the earth taking itself back. The Dinosaurs went extinct, now it's our turn. In the end every human being will be taken by the zombies and the virus, and the zombies will eventually waste away to nothing.
So what are your virus theories?

Aliens. It was created by aliens. (hehe had to)
I KNEW IT. O.O
A weapon that got out of control. Something developed by us, them or anyone. Something released from a cave in a jungle somewhere. Who knows? This type of "plague" isn't new. It's been covered up over the centuries by rulers and religions. I think it is a culling of the herd. When we've gone to the point where nature doesn't matter anymore; when we control it instead of it controlling us it releases a "plague" and it's all about the survival of the fittest. It is not the survival of the strongest, fastest or smartest. It is the survival of the ones who can put all of that together. The human race has proved to be resilient. We have survived the "plague" and come back stronger then before. Dinosaurs weren't so lucky. Maybe this is our Swan Song. Maybe it is time for another race to take over the world and to become dominant. Maybe, just maybe it is a new beginning.
Exactly! The dinosaurs went extinct in what we believe to be a flaming Armageddon-type, and are now something that we dig up and speculate about. Nature moves in cycles and as much as we try to control it, it's impossible! Earthquakes, fires, floods, hurricane Katrina and tidal waves. Slowly humanity is being taken in, and we won't be able to fight it forever.
There's a show on History called 100 Years After People, I believe, and it's remarkable how quickly earth is speculated to be swallowed up by nature again. Concrete will fall and supports will rust without humanity to look after it. I say BRING IT ON!
I think its going to be a cure-all project that went wrong, becoming the opposite than we wanted it to. so instead of curing us, it kills us, making the weak into the undead that we've been studding about.

if humanity is to fight for its survival with its dead, then I say we give it all we got, I'm not going to just lie down and let nature take me into the dirt, I'd rather like to see our race survive then end up like the luckless Dinosaurs. cuz, in a way, we're the last dominate breed to take this planet, if we're gone, nothing will replace us.

We will fight, we will win, and we will survive. nuff said.
i can see that being a legitimate source.

Im not saying we should lay down and accept it, but it's become survival of the fittest, the fittest being those who are smart, fast, strong, etc. i guess it's a form of natural selection.

And who says we're the last dominant breed? we evolved over thousands of years into conscious, intelligent (hah!) beings capable of all sorts of progression. And who says we're the last dominant species? If this virus wipes out humanity, it may be a world of bird people that dominates next. the earth is around for an indefinite amount of time (or a least until the sun dies) and with the millions of species on the planet, any one could be he next to evolve.

You have that much confidence in the human race?
Is it coincidence or a higher power? You can't prove it but neither can you disprove it..
It mighta been this guy ^^

two to the chest, one to the head!!!!!!!!
I think the most logical one for me is that a terrorist concocts some kind of biological weapon by genetically playing with the rabies virus and then unleashing it on an unsuspecting population.

In the early chaos things will be so confusing that the virus will spread easily, and by the time it can be effectively tackled, it will have diffused to far-flung areas.

But the human race was created with great intelligence, and therefore I think we'd certainly overcome a zombie outbreak.
Hmm. A fun perspective, and a very reasonable cause. I read a book once somewhere along those lines, about a bio-terrorist. Hell of a story. I think the human race would survive, but i think it has to be attributed to many different causes. There's a ton of us, we all have survival instincts that kick in, there are a few that can fully fend for themselves and they'll all survive. It's a prime example of natural selection. on a very exaggerated scale of course :)
Human adaptation abilities are beautiful.

My Bioanthropology professor told me how the human body is gradually beginning to adapt to pollution in the atmosphere.

I could imagine the human immune system eventually being able to adapt to some form of zombie virus. Kind of like in the end of the book I Am Legend, where the new community was able to contract the virus and yet not manifest the symptoms.
