First off, as i started this discussion, a box fell behind me and i positivly sh*t myself...2 hours on nazi zombies and an hour looking at zombie websites makes you prone to jump at alot...anyway, onto the topic at hand...

Zombies. Town. Two words you never want to see together, let alone next to each other on your "To-do" list. But lets face it, sometime you will have to go into a town...medican, toiletries (just because its zday is no excuse for bad hygeine) , ammo even. There is only so much you can scrounge from small villages.

So what do you think about a set of rules for urban zombie killing?

Personally i dont belive you step into a town and the streets are BRIMMING with the dead, some wil be in back allies, some will have wandered out, some will be in houses tripping over chairs and tables, so you just have alot of zeds to kill instead, but its not impossible. I think it really has to be a "get in get out" mission. I hope everyone has a modded up van or 4x4 with spikes on wheels, armour on the windows and such? Well i belive its a matter of ramraid through the town, if you see something usefull like a pharmacy, open the top hatch (you better have one) and gun down the zeds closest, then its a 2 man mad dash inside, look around quickly (quickly being the key word) grab what you can, and run back into the car, with those in the car offering fire support at all time.
I think these "sneek around quietly" idea should be scrapped, i know you cant really take a zombie by suprise (can you? i dont actually know), but i'd rather head in front first and get out fast. Even if what you grab are a box of condoms, baby oil, and toothpaste...still better than nothing right?

Anyone else got plans for "town trecking" during z-day?

First of all, well hell, above all else go change your shorts. :-)
What you do truely depends on your situation, resources, and abilities. If you are blessed with the resources, get yourself an iron rabbit for the foxes to chase.

In English, get yourself someone with wheels that can draw out the majority of zeds, make sure it is big, heavy, and able to go offroad. Before going into town plan the route (with backups) that your rabbit is going to draw the zeds through. Then just show up horns and music blaring. Once the majority of the hordes are on the move send in a small squad quietly to gather the supplies you need. Even if you have only one vehicle this plan can work, just get a shopping cart full of supplies to a pickup point. You do not have to guard the supplies, you can leave them and come back around again if things get hairy. If needed use more than one rabbit. Just keep in contact so you don't have the rabbits bringing the horde together at the wrong places.
Worse case scenario flick for urban zombie fighting was the really bad "Day of the Dead" (2008)http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0489018/usercomments the survivors were trapped in the town, with fast movers who attacked in groups, jumped out of 2nd story windows, jumped on your moving vehicle, flew out of from alleys and bushes and if I remember correctly one even walks a ceiling. That movie had some pretty athletic ninja zombies and the survivors were driving around in a Humvee with an infected friend sitting with them ,but it was OK cuz was a "vegetarian" lol
yeah, they seem to defy gravity in that one as if possessed by demons, not really believable. i wouldnt mind having annalyne on my team though ;-).
i think you could survive in a town, but only if you know it like the back of your hand, all entrances, exits, dead ends, alleys and places you can find supplies.
i think if you live in a city you are pretty much dead on your feet, as the population is more likely to be much higher meaning a much more powerfull horde.
I believe shock and awe is the best tactic granted you cant really shock or awe a zombie what I mean is you gotta roar in there guns a blazing going down main street full boar and brakng as fast as possible when you see a store with something useful inside then you gotta run in an just start grabbing shi it don't matter what just grab as much crap as humanly possible in short it'll be a lot of running, a lot of yelling, a lot of shooting, and a lot of zeds
Lure as many as you can in to a sports stadium, set you snipers in the skyboxes and lights and let them have a field day. Make sure you close the doors behind them and don't get locked in with them.
Again with the guns blazing! I just hope you have a shitload of ammo cause all that noise is gonna bring every zombie in for miles around. Best plan is sneak in gather what you want in one place, then call in the vehicle to pick it all up and then get the hell out.
I already have a shitload of ammo and am planning on attracting Zeds to the noise. Preparation and planning will get it done. I agree, if you are a small group looking to scavenge then stealth is the way to do things. If you are looking to take a town back and possibly fortify it then you'll have to go on a bigger level. The turkey shoot could be used to draw the Zeds from one part of town to another in order to blockade and fortify the Zedless area.
Always heard of luring zeds for easy kills...

Never heard of luring, killing and then blockage one place

Never dreamt of luring them again, not bothering to kill them all, but stil blockaging...

kudos on that its a good idea, aslong as they are slow zeds, it should only take an hour or so to destroy staircases...hmm./..good plan
I vote stealth small four man teams sticking to back alleys watching each others backs and ready to bug out if the fecal matter strikes the rotating oscillator.
go in silent
Well i think shock and awe is total crap personally, the zeds are gonna hear the shots and come at you in a 360 degree circle and taking them out will be EXTREMELY hard if not impossible and the Car/Truck idea with the running rabbit might work but you have to think that it won't draw every zombie so you'd still have to be careful. I think stealth and speed would work, zombies may have great senses but that does NOT mean they can't be snuck up on. Personally i would have myself and my team sneak in with dedicated carriers and guards and use room clearing tactics...
