Cool stuff dude. I think you'd be surprised how handy a lightweight shield would be in close combat.

Yea, back in the day I used to do Medieval Re-enactment with the SCA, so i know my way around shields and everything. Still, my favoured weapon, even against a shield, is a heavy two-handed mace or a claymore. Claymore is much favoured for zombie slaying though, seeing as you can get three or more in a single swing.

im putting a bayonet on my gun if that counts. and a peice of steel on the butt of the gun. smack it in the face with your gun, then stab it in the eye with the bayonet. i also would use a machete, i own no swords or medeival battle weapons, but i would love it if you knew where to get an operational spartan shield and spear.

Bayonets not a bad choice; bare in mind though that it can mess up your ballistics. Also, be wary of spears. They're great if you can either get it in the mouth or eye socket, and can also be used to trip them up or pin them or impede them, but you need to be extremely accurate with the thrusts for it to prove to be a killer. But a shield is great. Got a hint for you on the shield too. Nab a stop sign and and cut it into a circle. Or leave the points on. Use belts to create two straps on it (one for hand one for forearm) and hell, for extra damage, sharpen the sides! (just be careful not to cut yourself.)
