Ok, so I see alot of people commenting on what weapons and equipment they would carry during the z-poc. That's all great, provided you aren't in the most inconvenient place ever when the shit hits the fan. My question for everyone is what kind of work are you putting your body through to get fready for zombie combat? Are you running long distances to prepare for the fact that you may actually get your ass kicked at some point? Are you lifting weights so that you can actually have the strength needed to push away something that doesn't feel fatigue, as well as carry all of the supplies you think you can carry now? How about muscular endurance exercises? They will help you push away the undead time and time again, as well as let you continually navigate obstacles that no doubt will be presented at the worst time (think cars, fences, fallen trees, etc.). What happens when you get blind-sided by a zed and you drop your weapon? How are you going to take it out at that point? Think about what you would do if you were buying flowers or a card for someone you care about, in a place where there is clearly nothing you could use as a weapon for more thatn one encounter, and suddenly you find yourself in a building surrounded by zombies and you are separated from your melee and projectile weapons. I don't want to hear about your reliance on adrenaline fueled reactions, I want to know what you are doing so that you are prepared for every situation.

Im always running in the streets. And when im not im running up and down my stairs with my 2 n a haf year old trainee as weight. Hes a good 35pounds. And hes always willing to hang on while I go for a run.
I live basically in the wilderness. I walk up and down my driveway every day, which is about 2 miles round trip on a dirt path (= "driveway"). Sometimes I'll wear a back pack or carry a dog around my neck.

I haul water into the house b/c I don't have running water. That means 4 - 5 gallon buckets for toilet flushing and a 7 gallon potable water container.

Even though I have bad knees, I am a pretty good climber. If I lost some weight, it would help, I am sure.

I split wood for the fireplace. Just started doing that, so it should build some muscles.

I could easily hike long distances with a moderate back pack. The trick is to take only what you really need, so you aren't loaded down like a camel. If I had to do the mountains, I could with a walking stick, but I'd probably be slow and steady. I am not a fast runner, but that might change if I had Zeds smacking their lips behind me.

I am a fast thinker - so, that would be helpful.

Now that you got me thinking, I should probably pull out the bike and start doing 5 mile sprints.
Harr, harr, i`m a lazy sod, but i`m a sort of a creative "genius", so i`d be fully "armored" before i`d leave my hideout permanently.
so that be my defense, good luck zeds to bite me.
( imagine a hammer and metal bars and fences being put to good use)

Beyond that i have very basic taek wan do training, know one or two things about mountain life
know how to handle a knife/sword( some fencing)
Beyond that i have a ton of knowledge about various subjects which would be important to be of use.
In the end knowledge only get you so far tho, so i do some bicycling, weights at home.
I'm in ROTC at my college, so I get a bright and early workout every day at 0600. We've been running almost every day, almost too much cuz I'm getting shin splints. Back in my dorm I have turned nearly everything into a way to exercise. If I'm studying and I do a brief review and I get a question wrong, I do either 10 or 20 pushups, depending on how far off I was. If I die in a video game I drop and do 20. If I'm on an off day and can't paly for shit, I'll substitute 30 situps. I work out at the rec center almost every day. I do pullups, pushups, and situps, then move on to area specific moves. Bench, curls, overhead presses and such for arms, squats, lunges, leg presses, leg curls, and uphill sprints for legs. Always gotta run though, I run a minimum of one mile a day. I carry a 20lb vest to the stadium and run the stairs, and we ruck in ROTC occasionally.
I'm going to adopt your workout plan. It beats the shit out of mine, which is basically "go and do some situps and jogging when you can get your lazy ass out of your office chair". I'm in good shape and I've been complimented on my quads (always a bit akward for me) but I don't have arm strength or torso musculature worth bragging about. I've been doing traditional archery though, which really helps since you need a strong arm to pull the drawstring back all the way and keep the bow steady to aim.
hey, do what you can man. the key is to do as much as you can now. treat every workout as though it's the real deal, you'll see results, i promise
hey guys, maraggia and i are starting up a rp group if we can get enough people. its gonna be a good time. if anyones interested ill let yall know more about the plans and such.
Hahahaha! I'm just a ballet dancer/teacher/choreographer so I'm good on the leg strength part and the rest I think I will just drink a Zombie energy drink =D
They are available on amazon.com lol!
For some reason, ever since I picked up on researching the ZA, I have been casually going to various stores and malls with friends, family etc, etc; I've been eying everything from a game box to a piece of 2X4 to a rock on the ground like the landscaping at my college as a potential weapon against a zed encase I get caught away from home.

sometimes whatever you find can even be good enough to be used as a stun weapon, which would be good enough to knock a mouth away from you fallowed by you shoving that zed away, which give's you some room to go for a weapon that has some killing potential.

as well my mind is constantly making routes, plans and various scenarios wherever I'm at: which include what would happen if this occurs or what happen if I end up saving this person and so on.

and as of late, I've been put through a modified training program with the help of a friend (recently discharged from the Marines) so I've been building my foot work, muscles and cardio. which makes me more able for a ZA.

It's been almost 2 years since I first posted this topic. In that time I have lost 20 pounds, shaved 2 minutes off of my two mile, and received much more training courtesy of our ROTC Raiders program. I was tabbed last week, after a hellish but absolutely productive semester. Not only do I perform better physically, but I feel my mental abilities have increased as well, as well as my leadership skills. So here's my new regimen for anyone who's interested:

I still go to PT every weekday, 0545

Perfect Pushup- 30 reps several times a day

Pullups- 10 reps several times a day

Run- 2 miles every other day, every other run is done w/ 40lb vest

Rope climb- whenever available, focus on foot technique to save your uppr body strength

Misc. HIIT exercises- Burpees, mountain climbers, etc. Do the exercise for a certain amount of time, then rest for half of the time you exercised.

Sprints- 100-200 meters, or up the concourse at the stadium, up stairs at the stadium

If anyone feels like posting any improvements they've made, or would like to offer suggestions, feel free, I only want to help everyone be prepared.

Went from a 13:30 1.5 mile down to a 10:26.

Weight has stayed the same, but I only work out 2-3 times a week for an hour.

Still do 65+ pushups and situps in a minute.

Plenty of leadership experiences have made me more direct and action oriented. As always trying to become a real leader, not a manager.
