Okay, I really doubt the Romero zombies would ever become read. The dead being reanimated? I'm pretty sure dead cells stay dead. And how would the virus make it so that you have to shoot them in the head. It's impossible to create such an organ than can control the WHOLE body in such a way that it works almost perfectly, and in some cases, better than our. Our body NEEDS almost all the vital organs (thus the word VITAL). Even cells need the organelles to survive, not just the nucleus.

If any zombie would be created, it would most likely be a mix between 28 days later and an original zombie.

It probably would be along the lines of a human with extremely violent outbursts. It would die the same as humans. If it gets shot in the torso, it'll probably die. Extremely contagious, though. It'll probably profusely bleed, and the blood is where the virus would be. I doubt the saliva would be a big issue. Though, I don't know if it would be very coordinated. Since the mind is altered, I can't tell if it could think. All it would think about is "YOU MUST DIE!" like a bull to a matador.

This is all coming from a 7th grader, just to let you know in case I have this all wrong.

Well your writing skills are definitely higher then your grade level. I'd have to agree with your conclusion, that 28 Days Later or the infected are more realist zombies then those involving reanimated corpses. Which is not to say those types of zombies don't make great movies. And frankly from a survivors point of view I'd rather fight the slow shambling Romero zombies then the fast ghoul inflected like things in Resident Evil/28 Days Later. So torso hits should definitely kill those types just like anybody else, but since they don't feal pain they're not nessarily going to drop off right away. Where as a shot to the head would drop then right off.
Yes head shot are difficult, when your target is running and dodging like one of the infected, but its utterly mindless and slowly shambling towards you, ala Night of the Living Dead (1990 remake), it’s essentially a point-plank no miss shot. Also you can get behind a barrier like a chain link fence and as they start pushing up to the fence pop them in the head, like in theWalking Dead series.
It's not that unlikely. It's only a matter of time before science breaches reanimation. The theory of the walking dead is one of the brain still being able to control basic motor function. Basic human instinct is survival and violence.

I like the theory behind "The Happening". Some chemical imbalance caused everyone to ignore their survival instinct.

Also, Rev is right. Head shots aren't that difficult if you know what your doing.
First, while some feel headshots aren't that difficult, they aren't taking into account the horror, fear, sorrow, and everything else going through your head when trying to make that shot in a real scenario. It is most definitely not that easy. Compound that with the religious/philosophical implications raised by the dead walking vs. a viral infection similar to rabies. The rage virus can still be handled by the rational part of your brain. The living dead, otoh is going to mess you up psychologically.

Also, as I've mentioned before, something akin to the rage virus, while frightening on an individual immediate basis, is not as threatening to the long term viability of man as the preeminent life form on the planet. The virus itself would burn through it's victims very quickly. A human body running with that type of adrenaline fueled rage, with no other instinct but violence, would go through cardiac arrest very quickly. With the heart going like that, minor wounds would quickly become deadly, as the life blood is poured out faster than the blood could clot. The fever from operating at such a level would burn out the nervous system and kill the host quickly. The absolute disregard for one's own safety would lead to injury and death. Nooo, while I might need to change my underwear form an encounter with a Rage sufferer, it wouldn't pose much threat to mankind as a whole unless the virus was airborne, or had another means of transference.
I agree whole heartedly with you, except those who don't get over their psychological issues aren't going to last long enough to get the shot off in the first place, let alone hit something in the head. Think about a soldier, a human being. They are trained to shoot first ask questions later. They have to be trained to show no fear in the face of certain death. I for one, might have a hard time pulling the trigger against my family, but anyone else would just be target practice.

But you bring up great points about the rage virus. Screw the central nervous system, the body cannot sustain that kind of physical activity for that amount of time, let alone while spewing blood out of thier mouths. The body would start going into organ failure from the lost of blood, causing the entire body to go into shock. Within minutes you should be dead. this is more of a survival transmission. I must always Move from one host to the next in order to survive.
In 28 Days Later it does show the rage zombies in a dormant period, so they're clearly not at full activity all the time. So I disagree with the assertion that these types of infected zombies would wear themselves out quickly from constant exertion. Also since they’re still alive they’ll be able to heal minor wounds and decomposition wouldn’t be an issue either. With a constant enough diet and a lack of an enemy that nerve gases the lot of them, they might even out last some traditional undead zombies.
Um, bump of oldness. :D I haven't logged on in a while and would like to continue the discussion.
zombies are real, its a virus named solanum
Zombies, romero style are completely infeasible, as it requires imaginary things, like the dead somehow moving. Viruses cannot cause re-animation, because it is medically impossible. However if, "zombies" ever were to be real, they would be in the Left 4 Dead style (28 days later), not the boss infected, but the normal ones. They are infected humans, whose behavior is altered by a rabies mutation causing insane aggression, not cannibalism. They will actually attack rather than bite. They run fast, and can be killed without a headshot.
Being a 7th grader and obviously a thinker. Consider that none of us knows what is out there. As much as we have explored our planet, we've explored the galaxy more. With less than 5% of the oceans explored and some say even less of the rain forests, theres no telling what is possible. And what about bacteria, I believe somewhere in the south eastern states that has the ability the actually control other creatures. Not making it up, I actually did some reseach several months back and found the info ( and you'll love this ) on the CDC website! I joined this site because I believe in there being more out there than what I think I already know. I love that your making people think, but be open minded yourself.

Its funny when you think about. I actually listened to a real doctor say that: all the body is for, is to keep the brain alive. But with everything humans do to the brain with drugs and other experiments that are totally unnessisary for just enjoyment or even for the prolongation of life. The possiblities are endless.
Okay the romao idea was long before the science of zombies was not in question and just horror idea. Now that zombies have become such a under ground idea into the popularity that now we seek a way to make it happen.
Now that being said, I still believe that dead cells are dead. I honestly believe if they did turn to a virus and start to eat humans that they would be like 28 days and others of the like but it would be an easy survival though. Think of basic three's .....we need basic living situations to live. Now these are all on an average mind you. 3 secs until death without atmosphere, 3mins without air, 3days without water and 30 days without food. So in this case 3 days without water...and if they have any projectal vomit even quicker. So it would be an a horrible time but they would have an end to it all if you can out last the virus ridden zombies.
And awesome job on the thoughts by the way. Keep thinking most 7th graders are not actually thinking out of that box. So when the zombies do rise we'll need people like you.
but you all are forgetting the true part of the Romero movies is they never know were the Undead come from, but they always give the impression that it is a sort of biblical rapture, and since none of us know for certain if there is or isn't a higher power that is always a possibility
