i think you are going to want lightweight water-proof material.leather rubber .things of that nature.maybe layers of brass or aluminum to add duribilty. it doesn't have to stop bullets just bites

So how much of this would I actually wear? Good question, let's see. I would wear the back-plate sleeveless BMX armor if it didn't sit too uncomfortable with my pack. Gauntlets and Gaiters are a must. Knee pads are a necessity to me as well. I would just wear shooters gloves or batters gloves, no need to wrestle zombies. The helm might be a bit much, but I still would at least wear goggles and a bandana for a splash shield. A paintball mask maybe? WHAT WOULD MAKE A GOOD SPLASH GUARD?
No ideas on a splash guard, anyone?
i cant think of anything that would not restrict your vision to much. maybe a modified welders mask would work
sorry I didn't read your reply first , the paintball mask is a great idea also red man gear or it might be simunitions has a helemt with a full face shield with neck protection , or a riot helmet from a surplus store the europen ones usually have the neck protection that falls over the shoulders, splash guard is a good idea a face full of rotten zombie goo would just simply ruin dinner
An SCBA(self contained breathing apparatus) with a face guard would work. It would protect from splatter and inhalants. A draw-back would be they get hot after a while and possibly covered in gore.
I guess it would depend on what activites you are planing , prison riot gear or red man suits but they will cost several thousand dollars, as for bullet proof hopefully the only time you might get shot is after being mistaken for a zombie , and it thats the case most vests won't stop rifle rounds I wear a level 3a vest with a trama plate and it cost almost a thousand dollars its heavy and it only covers my chest and back , I would think anything that would help prevent bites and grabs would be best , like a leather bike jacket or even a heavy denim jacket and short hair or a bandana tied over your hair, safety glasses or a paintball mask, you have to think what do I have access to , I live in a small town BMX armor is a good idea we have alot of that here and kevlar sleeves and neck gators because of the local industry, I just thought of a heavy welders jacket and chaps . anyway think about what do you have acess to keep it realistic and you will have a better chance of making it through
what about sewing overlapping metal washers on to a leather jacket
it would make a lot of noise
i am using a poncho(cloth,decently thick),paintball mask,bandana,and some paintball gloves(hoping to snipe :D)
I've always plained on a set of armor from my own design. I'll see if I can find where I wrote it down...

Either way it's made from Underarmor, alumin-plates, and leather. The underarmor is the base, and the plates and leather are layered on top. No sound, good chance of stopping a bullet, no way in hell a bite or a knife is getting through either.
i have a flack jacket with high neck gards. check out zombie surival guide by max brooks there is a whole chapter on armor. bmx armor would be a good choice its licht and you can get it at a lot of places. if you can get chain mail its good but heavy as a mother. best bet just stay from them. good luk
i think a long studded lether trench coat would be best if you plan on raiding or cleaning out the local swarm if its temperary  use and stuff but if you are trying to get out of the area or runing away or something light bmx armor knee shoulder pads neck gaurd and elbow pads would be best.just stuff like that if you know what i mean
