I would like to engage my fellow Canucks in a discussion concerning the unique issues facing Canada during a Zombie Apocalypse.  First and foremost the flood of American refugees into Canada and how do you believe the government would deal with it?  I personally feel that our wonderful elected officials would do the same thing they have always done, too little too late.

there was a special on space on Sunday at ten called dead set. it was really good it is on again next weekend and is some sort of miniseries so check it out
Just watched the first episode online... Not bad, could worth watching. That is if Space doesn't keep screwing up the online episodes.
you mean like how the makers of stargaze killed the last 3 seasons of sg1, killed Atlantis when it got good and replaced it with sgu which is officially worse then watching a human body degrade at half speed or playing any call of duty or halo games.(in case your wondering those are the things that I believe are the most evil and shity)
No its not a writing thing, but I agree with you on most of those points except the halo thing... never played. The knobs that run the space website screwed up and put part 5 of 6 of SGU into the spot where Dead Set part five should have gone. Wouldn't have been such a big deal except it was the climax of the show!
part 5 and 6 are already on the web? I only saw the first epsiode on Sunday..... what do you mean not a writing thing? the makers ended sga right when the series was becoming a good show. my favorite epsiode of sga is the one when they find micheals mutant creatures(the ones that spew mist from vents in their throats and are blind) the creatures where so cool and it was one of the few episodes with sufficient action. I thought the only error stargatewriters ever made was not covering up plot holes and errors with intense action scenes which where all to rare in sga and the only reason why people watched sg1 was cause of Richard dean Anderson and look what happened when he left..... the ori , a sad attempt to replicate what they had going with the gould and completely kill the series.
I meant the video itself. They divide it into 6 parts when it is posted and the 5th part of episode 1 was not there, it was a part of SGU instead. I was big into SG1 and I would guess Amanda Tapping had a fairly strong following as well. I know I enjoyed watching her. Never got into SGA as much and never watched SGU. Its a sad rip off of Voyager.
I thought it would be a sad rip as well but some how it just..... isn't......
This discussion has gone a little off topic guys. I'm not really sure what the Stargate series has to do with Zombies. So back on topic...

From what I read in the Canadain time line it seems that the government does to little too late. As for those of us on the Island here we face being cut off from the main land. This could be a blessing or a curse, the island could be over run or a safe havean. How would the government deal with that possiblity, most likely I am going to say the ferries would be pirated by scared passengers and crew, again death sentence or safe place? I think anything on the water risks being sunk by the government in a effort to stop the spread. I do have acess to boats and I live close to the water but I think open water would be too dangerous but a possiblity for getting to more remote parts of the island. I also have access to armoured vehicles through work... with the time line the way it is I would have been at work in one when this hit the island. Having the Navy on the Island could also be a benefit, hopefully keeping refugees off the island or at least slowing them down, after all it is a big island. Our ships are kind of undermaned so that is one draw back just as it stands right now.
Believe me Niki I thought about that too. My guess is that the government or what was left of it would be heading for one of the many Islands around the country, Maybe that new naval station in Nunavut they are talking about (if they ever actually finish it) Or PEI. If things are handled correctly Vancouver Island I think could be a veritable fortress. As for the Navy... Well I'm guessing we would at the very least go to anchor in the harbour but not until the main gates were in danger of being breached. With my present posting, I would be put to guard duty on the base, this doesn't exactly give me a warm fuzzy if you know what I mean.
Hi,

I am from the US, but I might be able to help here. I live in way Way WAY upstate NY. I am 300miles north of NYC, but only 60miles South East of Montreal and only about 20 miles south of the boarder.

One of the biggest problems will be that the boarder is almost impossible to lock down.. Sure, you can station people at the highway boarder crossings, but there are also some small dirt roads that do not have anyone stationed there. Much of the boarder is wooden. A mile from the boarder station will not be observable unless it is patrolled. Say 3 people per mile at 3 shifts over 3,000 miles we are looking at 30,000 people. Such a deployment would be a bare minimum to stop the one or two random drifters per mile. Trying to stop a flood of people would require many more guards.
I'm not actually from Canada, but I have family there and it has always interested me. I reckon some zombies would get over the border and then it'll all fall apart. I reckon perhaps some of the provinces would close them selves off... a lot of the reserves would probably close their borders pretty early on, I think... but it wouldn't help and it would end up the same as everywhere else.
