LOST ZOMBIES INTERNATIONAL

Lost Zombies requires video footage of zombies from outside the United States. Evidence suggests that zombie outbreaks began occurring around the world some time around November of 2007. Your footage may include a single zombie, many zombies or simply evidence that zombies were there.

We need you to come up with significant events which can be used to show the effects of the infection outside of the US, and then provide video footage. Because you are based outside of the US, you can use this opportunity to involve your own country, city or town etc and use your own knowledge to create realisitc situations for these locations. These can be large or small events ranging from news broadcasts, video diaries or anything else your imagination can supply. Here are the basic dates when significant events happen so far, we can create a mirror timeline from our ideas and flesh it out as we create more, it can be referenced to when objective C1 is being shown or simply used by international members as a backstory to their filming or written accounts. This timeline is in no way solid, we can change and edit and add new parts it as we see fit and as new ideas from different countries arrive.

February 2007

  During February, media across Europe and parts of Asia start to run stories about a resistant strain of flu which is affecting the young and old in North America. Common ‘seasonal influenza’ is the reported cause. By March the number of cases has skyrocketed across all age groups. On April 1st the WHO declares that North America is in the grip of a pandemic. While media outlets face government censure, media in Europe begin to run stories drawing comparisons between this new 'Super Flu' and the Spanish Flu of 1919 which killed over 40 million people. It is not uncommon to see visitors arriving from North America wearing face masks. Scenes of huge protests demanding improved healthcare start to filter out of the US. In San Francisco a man robs a bank with a squirt bottle full of what is claimed to be, super flu infected blood.

May 2007

  On May 1st the US Government working with FEMA and the CDC sets up a camp in the Nevada desert called ‘Camp St’ Teresa’ with the purpose of treating the uninsured sick. Immediately European media begin to associate these camps with concentration camps. The US Government issues St. Teresa Passports to Hospitals across the country who are inturn instructed to give the passports, which grant access to Camp Teresa, to uninsured patients in need. People all over the country rush to their local hospitals seeking passports. By June 1st all the passports have been issued. Reports of passports selling online for tens of thousands of dollars are not uncommon.

  The first European cases of the Super Flu are reported on US military bases in England and Germany. Media outlets run the headline ********************************* and anti-American rallies begin, protesting against the military bases. During June, the number of people infected with the Super Flu across all Europe increases on a daily bases however due to European social healthcare systems, public confidence is high.

July 2007

  As deaths tolls begin to mount up throughout the US political relationships begin to deteriorate with Europe, the US begins to pull all of its military personal out of its European bases. Media stations show jeering crowds as the last planes depart from major US bases on the continent. The World Health Organistation officially names the super flu the ‘Campion Virus’ As the situation in North America dramatically worsens, the majority of Europe begin to close down it's national borders. The UK continues to keep its major international Airports open, to the anger of the EU.

  Accounts surface from Camp Saint Teresa that describe atrocious living conditions. Rumors spread that Camp Saint Teresa is a massive death camp where poor infected citizens of the United States are sent to die. The White House tries to rebound from the accusation calling Camp Teresa a Quarantine Camp. Riots on an unprecedented scale breakout in major cities across the US. The Capital building catches fire. Martial Law is declared.

August 2007

  By August a slew of US Pharmaceutical Companies claiming to have a cure for the Campion virus begin selling their products direct to consumers and drug stores. The Pharmaceutical Companies skip the FDA approval to increase time to market and capitalize on the global panic. The most heavily promoted of these is *********. Riots break out in all major European cities as news breaks that the EU has been selling off its vast reserves of medicine and newly developed drugs to a desperate US government. France, the UK, Romania and Austria issue call up orders for all their military reservist units to try and quell the riots.

September 2007

  On September 8th 2007 a 911 call is placed from a mobile phone somewhere in Northern California. The person making the call claims that he is at a pharmaceutical testing facility where they are testing Campion Virus treatments. The caller claims that some of the patients have died and are attacking people. The 911 operator asks if the patients are dead or are attacking to which the caller responds, “both.” This is the first recorded case of ‘undead’ behaviour resulting from the Campion Virus.  

  As governments across the EU take control of all media companies, pictures begin to leak out on the internet of football stadiums across Europe being used as massive detention centers, each holding hundreds of thousands of infected familes. Contact between continents and other European nations begins to fail as riots begin to destroy key places of infrastructure. Martial Law is declared across most of Europe. Scenes of nerve agents being used on isolated towns and villages in Germany and the UK appear on the internet.

November 2007

  On November 1st the headline on New York’s leading newspaper reads “We Lost Some Zombies.” The quote is from a uniformed guard stationed at Camp Saint Teresa. The Article describes a frantic radio transmission made by the Camp Saint Teresa guard. The article goes on to describe armed soldiers racing away from the camp in Humvees towards Las Vegas. The city falls by the 3rd. The infected spread from there. The west coast is hit on the 5^th and by the 7^th no conact can be made with the east coast. Estimates are that 75% of the US population is dead or undead by the 19th of November.

In Stuttgart, Germany, as the final US military base in Europe shuts down, panic suddenly sweeps through the cheering crowd as people covered from head to toe in blood charge into the crowd. Police and military units open fire on the crowd, shaky footage of the massacre leaks out across Europe. The UK finally declares its national borders closed but it appears to be too late as all contact with the island nation ceases after November 5th.

December 2007

  While a handful of cities main a working power grid, the vast majority of the United States is without power.  The US Government and all it’s agencies cease to function. Internet services across the World begin to shutdown and radio broadcasts begin to paint a grim picture. Radio contact between groups in Germany speak of 'zombies' taking over whole cities. A military cue in Romania backfires and an estimated 90% of its population is unaccounted for. There are radio reports of mushroom clouds seen over the Middle East, Islamabad and the Russo-Sino border.

Christmas 2007

Snow begins to fall on a silent Europe as only a handful of small groups seem to be in contact with each other. Reports of undead hordes in all towns and cities are common. Planes cease to be seen in the sky. The Super Flu appears to cease being an airborne virus by the 25th of December. Survivors are estimated to be minimal and are spread out unorganised across the planet.
