I think a series of conex boxs, (for those of you who don't know conex are the big steel boxs they use for shipping and storage around ship yards and railroad yards) with a flat bed truck and crane you could build a really cool fort with the added bounus now you have a bunch of storage and additional shelter , with a talented welder the ideas for your new fort are endless .
I have thought and thought about this and honestly, I think a [tall] fenced off apartment complex is a good idea. You would have plenty of water to drink from the BACK of the toilets if the water has turned off, plenty of food, medications, weapons [bedframes, shower curtain rods, hell even the wood off chairs and such could be made into makeshift arrows], clothing, toiletries, ect...

This is a bit tricky because you would have to deal with other survivors as well as the deadheads but as long as you could hold on to some sort of cooperation, the majority could agree to some sort of order, it could work out for the best.

As for the trouble making neighbors who are stubborn or just not good "zombie team" material.... Make them bait or throw them over the damn fence. =]
Ok so lets say stnches freeze in the winter i would either 1) reinforce my hideout or 2) find a bigger building, so that way when im out looking for more supplies to stock up on and find more survivors there is plenty of room for theam. but in either case i would start with building a strong concreat or cement wall if you add antifreez to the mix it will come out right. and basicaly try to make it a better living place and find whoever and whatever i can
