in my personal opinion, ocean survival should be left to professionals. people used to being out to sea. i can tell you i know absolutely nothing about surviving at sea and therefore probably would not survive. so i'm gonna stay far away from that when and if a zombie war breaks out. i'm a mountain girl and that's where i will be heading. but if you have ideas please post them cuz you never know what you will be faced with when this all goes down.
it would work for only so long. i have often thought about this cause you can fish for food assuming fish cant be affected, filter the water to drink go in and out of prots that arent heavily over run with stenches to see what supplies you can get the only problem i keep coming up with is weather like storms, winter time, hurricans shit like that
Hmm... Food and Medical supplies are the biggest problems.

Maybe an Oil rig? With some forthought at lest.
i think if an oil rig is an option then thats a damn good one they are sturdy enough to last indefinantly through storms and with a bit of knowledge you could stay there for quite some time the only problew would be getting to one and maintaining supplies
#1) It needs to be a vessel large enough to withstand small to medium size storms.

#2) It needs to be a sailing vessel (diesel ain't going to be very available following Zpoc)

#3) Get yourself 7-8 Solar Stills that can float and be towed along behind the vessel

#4) Scavenging is going to be necessary. You will need a good map of the area, as well as several smaller craft to take the scavengers to shore and bring back the supplies. These will need to be either rowboats or smaller wind driven craft, again because fuel.
I think a combination of the two ideas above (oil rig and sailing vessel) would work the best. Say you have a pretty good size group (15-20 or more). You could work out of an oil platform for your base of operations, set up your solar stills on the deck, store food and supplies, eat, sleep, etc. You then use smaller sailing vessels to fish, make supply runs, secure more vessels, etc. This way you ensure the majority of your group is never exposed to infection and you give yourself a good buffer between yourself and the zeds. If you work it right, you may never need to go ashore until the outbreak is over.
