Like it said on the zombie survival guide, and enevitably in all zombie movies, there is no such thing as a safe haven. On land anyways. But then you have to go to the consideration of food. Where are you going to get it? All these things have to be taken into consideration. Any ideas? Feel free to post

I am going to be on my homestead in the boonies. I will be raising my own crops and livestock. I plan on being as self-sufficient as possible. Solar voltaic power, passive solar heating/cooling. Enough food to last for 1 - 2 years put away, (canned, dried, frozen) for my family and the livestock. All trespassers will be slapped shot.
the longer you stay in one spot the more of them will arrive
True... but out in the boonies, they should be sparse... and easier to pick off. You cannot be on the run constantly... your luck is bound to run out. There is too much that can go wrong with that plan also.

Take, for instance, food. You'll only be able to take "X" amount from the stores before the produce rots, the meat thaws and rots, and the canned goods are not edible because botulism becomes a high risk. Even beef jerky has a shelf life. Then, what are you going to do?

Nowhere is safe, only safer... My idea of safer is my above plan.
that's why you have to keep to perfect location in mind when you do settle somewhere. i will be fortifying a ski resort in my mountains and will have plenty of look out and the upper hand of being high up and through terrain that will not be easy to get up to. not impossible but not easy especially for the undead to bring a horde to my door. i will have plenty of food and water. and winter will give me time to fortify more and make greenhouses for my food.there will be more details but those are for another chapter.
More than likely in the event of an outbreak I would get out of town as soon as possible (after gathering some weapons and food) and head to the mountains. Theres a couple houses up on the mountain side that I know of that only have one road up, really thick forest, and excellent views of the town below. It would be easy to fortify and easy to defend against large amounts of Zeds
the best plan I have requires a fiew people some hard work but garenteed results. Board a cruze ship, you can seal off many areas of the ship apon arival. Then with your team deck by deck, room by room clean house and seal up and tape any doors or passage ways to help you detect any straglers. with many rooms and enought food to feed 15 hundred people for a fiew weeks youll be fine till after the first winter and food and medical supplies will be taken care of. Also its procedure to have a stock pile of Guns and ammo on board in case of terrorist attack. Careful cleaning out though suvivors may still be on board. With the engines off drift and only use fuel to get to a cosatal area in nothern bc or newfoundland. there you can hunt fish and farm while still living on the ship going ashore to collect food. I recomend NFLD due to its an island . The zombies would freeze easily in winter and hunting moose would prove benifical. you can grow your food in the indoor pools with rain water and food compost.
