Ok we all know there are a bunch of great weapons out there but we need to cut the crap and get to raw facts of killing effectiveness not only for sedz but over all also.

Shotguns- most offent the first pick of most people but srerously it sucks. the kickback will leave you soor or even knock out an arm if used improperly. yes we could argue all day about the shotguns ups and downs. i know it would kill anything if gien the chance but range and accuracy puts the trusty shotgun in the grave.

Miniguns- they are a great waste of time and bullets. just take a look at all the support it needs, electric mortor, vehicle transport, shit load of ammo. like the shotgun, the Minigun will destroy any target but when it comes to a marginal cost/benifit annlysist you will find the cost much great than the units of benifit.

Uzi- this is the Uzi not just SMGs in general. the uzi is great if used in the right way. first off don't spray the lead but fire in short controlled bursts. mostlikely people will forget this tip and just end up spending all there rounds in a matter of seconds with very limited effect. this is to be used ONLY as a LAST RESORT weapon.

M-16- Yes this is a great weapon but where will you find ammo for it? try looking and knowing where some 5.56 caches are before picking a 16 up. also you need to know how to maintain this firearm well or it will haunt you. that is all i really have to say other than that i would have one on my shoulder.

AK-47- OMG if i hear one more thing about how great this rifle is i will stomp someone's brains out. we all know this is the greatest rifle of all time hands down because of its endurance and easy handling but like the M-16 where the hell are you going to find enough ammo for it (in USA)?

chainsaws- ok it uses gas, can clog after a few moments cutting through flesh and stuffs, heavy to carry and broken razor bladed chains is not fun to deal with.

please continue this list of weapons that should be black listed

You doubt the "Boomstick"!!!

Seriously, I like the way you broke it all down. Nice.
Leave Firearm Threads to the Professionals

To survive after the dead have risen you sdould have the right tools before the problem happens start by going and picking up a Remington or Mossberg 12 gauge shotgun then purchase ammunition this would be slug and shot these would be the best for out to 100 yds slug for distance and shot for close combat next would be a hand gun i recommend a 6" revolver in 357 or 44 magnum the reason for the revolver over a semiauto is less chance for malfunction last thing you want is a jam when the dead are up close and for reloading use speedloaders you will also want a large knife or tomahawk which can also be picked up at most weapon shops by choosing these style weapons you will be able to come across ammo the easiest very common calibers
also the size of these weapons and weight allow for less felt recoil which means better control and even small frame people will be able to fire.
All these folks preaching what they dont know, like carrying an AR-15 or AK .wrong answers these calibers are already exspensive and will be hard to come by as they are NATO rounds meaning they will be in high demand by Military first so stick with what right.
make sure you have a universal cleaning kit and lube clean weapon is a weapon that fuctions dirty one dosent
keep your owners manuals if you have bought used pick up or download for each weapon so you can learn or teach how to disassemble and clean
go to someone and take propper lessons in firearm handling, take tactical weapon classes if you can afford to HERE AT COMBAT SOLUTIONS WE TEACH if you cant take classes just point and shot at your targets ,you can grap books or download info on propper sight alignment
REMEMBER simple is the best, less to think about will keep you alive
You're right on most counts here, but I have seen 5.56 ammo sold in sporting goods stores. As for AKs, they sell semi-auto equivalents, and 7.62 ammo isn't all that hard to find either. The real trick would be getting your hands on the (full auto) AK itself.
theres a bait shop where i live that sells AK ammo they are not illegal as long as theyre not fully automatic its considered a hunting rifle in NC
On the more primitive side, baseball bats with spikes, big NO, the spikes get caught and while you are trying to extract it, you get eaten. Same for any edged weapon with serations the teeth get caught up on the bone and you have to fight to get it out. Firearms are great as long as you can carry enough ammo, and also stick to an universal round getting into exotic calibers you might as well use your gun as a club when you run out and can't find anymore. But still you will need a primitive weapon just in case of a gun jamb, or you run out of ammo. Just a few thoughts.
Just in my experience:

Shotguns: Good for QQC
Anything Automatic: waste of ammo
Ak-47: I have one, and ammos at any gun store and some wal-marts
Pistols: 357 Mag. Personal Fav.
Long Distance rifles: Reach out and touch someone :) Good to have one or two.
Flame: It can burn them... -AND- you. Be careful.
Explosives: No. Use them for demo instead.

Miss anything?
ok guys i think we got a lil off topic. this is a BLACKLIST not pros and cons we already have enough of those threads.

on griffin's note of explosives of explosives, we don't know how effective they are. if head shots are the only thing that will kill (instead of concusive blast) than they should be used for other purposes like clearing ways or blocking them. but in ether case they are ify
I tend to agree with some of the folks above, the shotgun, M-16/AR-15, and AK should be off this list.

If you want one-short stopping power, the shotgun is the way to go, hands down. As far as range is concerned, a rifled slug has an effective range over 100 yards and still has enough stopping power to take a head off. If you're concerned about the recoil, might I suggest a little range time so you know how to shoot it and what to expect when the time comes. I've seen 14 year old girls shoot 12 gauge shotguns, and I've never seen anyone's arm get knocked out of the socket.

As for the military style rifles and the availability of ammo, both 5.56mm/.223cal (for the M-16 and AR-15) and 7.62x39 (for the AK and SKS) are plentiful and available to civilians. In many states, single shot AKs are legal, and fixed magazine SKSs are still legal in California and some other anti-gun states, so the demand is there and the ammo is relatively cheep (less than 40 cents a round). As for the M-16, it's civilian version, the AR-15 is legal many places, plus the 5.56mm/.223cal ammo is catching on as a varmint round, so there is availability for it too. Plus, ammo should be stockpiled before hand, so demand at the time of an emergency should not be an issue.

Some weapons that should be black listed:

.22cal/.17cal rifles and pistols. Ineffective for zombie applications.

9mm/.32cal/.380cal handguns. Any thing under .38 special lacks enough stopping power. SMGs with longer barrels are still acceptable.

Swords/axes/knives/bats/etc. Unless you have years of training with martial arts weapons, leave the bladed and impact weapons alone and use only as a weapon of opportunity as a last resort. Knives should be kept as tools but not relied upon as weapons.

Molotov cocktails or other incendiary weapon. Think about it, instead of being rushed by a horde of zombies, now you're being rushed by a horde of flaming zombies. Yes, the fire will eventually destroy them, but how long will it take for them to burn, and can they get to you in that time? Unless you're acting from a great distance, or from a position where you can't be reached and is not flammable, fire should be avoided.
One thing may not be effective on zack, but human survivors can be threatening as well, and the smg or shotgun works fine on them.
According to the accounts in the wwz book, during the battle of New Jersey they found that explosive devices such as missiles and grenades and even heavy fire from .50s and minis and tanks proved total shite.
Even thermobaric bombs did little but make them look uglier....and suck there organs out there mouth so they are hanging on the outside as they shamble around (caused from the vacum from the bomb.
as for the questions about getting a full auto ak or m16, you don't need too. Think about it, your shooting these things in the head. You don't need to go full auto, it just wastes time and resources. Just find a rifle that you can sight in and use it, as for what kind? Try something that shoots either 7.62 or 5.56 as thats the most common ammuntion you can find, and plus the military has stores of the stuff. Find a rifle that your familiar with and know how to operate, again miltary rifles are a good choice because there designed to be used by idiots, although the ar15 (m16) jams more often and is more temperamental then the AK47, thats jsut my opinion, but I still own both of them. I agree with the statements made about shotguns, the friken hurt your arm. Pistols are useless unless your a VERY VERY good shot, seriously try hitting somethingthe size of a head at oh say 20ft, seriously hard for people who don't shoot, and for people who can shoot with them there only good to use too fight your way to your rifle.
Shotguns are a bit much unless you counter with 410 gauge ball shot. shells are lighter , packs a punch and kick back is minimal, also ammo is readly avalible from hardware to department stores even walmart. A protective weapon is a passive telsa suit. light aluminum weave high voltage belt warn transformer and insulated gloves and boots. only effictive for supply runs. electricity disrups impulses and renders zombies "shorted out". vehicles are a definated no , bones can peirce tires and in highly infected areas tires will sludge up, and coagulated blood dosent come of glass easily. Also you need to drive like hell.
I wuojd use a sword because using a gun makes noise atracting more zombie swords nice and quiet no need to make a zombie scene
