Electricity

Once one has reached a safe house or hide out, electricity is a very important thing that should be considered.   I'm a member of the United States Air Force and my job is electrical power production.   Electricity can be used for multiple uses, anywhere from lighting, to communication, or protection.   Id like to see what some people have in mind on how to produce or scavenge this incredible resource.

#1 Gather as many car batteries and battery terminals as possible

-These batteries can be linked together in parallel and used for lighting or other small tasks

#2 Scavenge as many small engines (lawn mowers, weed eaters, pressure washers, etc) as possible, along with as many alternators as possible. These could be found on any car, generator, or any engine that has any need for an A/C circuit.

-These alternators can be fixed to an engine to produce and A/C source.

-The basic idea is to fabricate your very own homemade generator

#3 Keep an eye out for any type of industrial Generator

-These can be hard to come by because not everyone has a generator laying around.   This is why i mentioned this third.   If you do come across any type of generator, do everything in your power to seize that opportunity.  You never know when you will come across another one.

#4 Always keep a good supply of extension cords, wire, wire nuts, any electrical supplies, etc.

#5 Be on the look out for any D/C to A/C converter

-This can be handy because not everything can run off of a D/C current
