hmm sounds soild. A wood fence isnt bad but you gotta think of raders, If a safe haven is made word will spread and all will know, with that the raders, phycos, and road worriors will know as well and they will see that the first line of defence is also a self imposed trap. What I mean is that they will send in one of there own to act as a lost surviver and when they know how everything goes they will strike in side and out by burning the outer walls and buildings. Now you could still build a wood wall but I would recomend sheet metal as a precaution.

i am gonna get right to the point youi realize that PEOPLE would have to do this right cutting down the trees, mending them to gether with whatever happens to be around and wall maintainance then but befor that how will people have the energy with candy bars and a bottled water a day ? and not only that farming? really? do you know how to farm? are you wiling to walk the 5 to 10 miles a day to have any kind of properous affect on your colony and this is assuming no one goes crazy, fights and works together perfectly and then zombies you clearly don't understnad the force the human body is capable of applying with out the brans natural inhibiters and when that part of the brain dies off then you have basically super human zombies so a wooden wall would have to be more like a wooden colasium I know your trying to keep hope but you have to think about the people. how about instead ... a boat its much more effiecient and appreciated to build about and live off the water learn how to make your own fishing gear and purify water and have a strict but fair demacratic and judiscial system set up and make sure every one under stands.

I know exactly what you are saying spwnzr, the idea has many holes in it mostly do to the logists of the amount of different skill sets requiered to build such a thing, just look at how many different stages and crews it takes to build a simple two bedroom house. and that takes time and carefull calculations just to get started printing the finial buleprint which if the contracor sees a problem while building the blueprints have to be rewriten which takes more time then the first set because the general out come has to remain the same with the fixes
