If you ever find yourself in a situation where you have to clear an area of zeds, the most important thing to remember is what you should always remember when dealing with zeds - use extreme caution, stay alert, and stay alive. This chapter will be focusing on INDOOR scenarios only. The ares I will cover are some of the most common areas you might find yourself facing, and the simple but life saving things you must remember when taking back your home.

Whether you live in a single, double or prehaps three story home, duplex, or apartment your first task in the event of an outbreak should be to secure your home. But let's say you were away when the outbreak started, and you have know way of knowing if your home is secure when you arrive. The first thing you should do is check the perimeter. Do a walk around your house/building. You should be on constant alert. While you are doing your perimeter check, check all ground level doors and windows for signs of attempted or forced entry. (REMEMBER: In addition for zeds, you also have to be on the look out for looters and thieves.) After your perimeter is secured, prepare for your entry.Make sure your point of entry does not leave you to exposed, as you may have to deal with an immediate threat. You should Try to make as little noise as possible when entering. Now , provided of course you know the layout of your own home, you should proceed to clear the house using baisic room-by-room tactics. Remember to check closets, showers, pantrys etc. If you live in a multi-story home, ensure that you have finished clearing the level you are on before moving to a different one. Continue in this fashion until you are certain your home is secure. If you happen to live in a large apartment building/complex, EXTREME CAUTION is needed simply because there is usually a high concentration of people in those buildings who, even if they not infected, will undoubtibly be painicing, looting, etc. I would recomend staying out of these areas unless absoulutly nesecary. Remember, it only takes one zed to turn a crowd into a blood bath. Once your home is secure, You will have to make the crucial decision....... Will you stay and fortify your home, stock up on supplies, and prepare for a siege? Or will you take what you can carry and go mobile? Whatever your decision is, it should be a quick one. Remember, In the first stages of an outbreak, time is the most important factor, you will be racing against the clock, and you might have mere hours to make these crtical preparations.
