Perhaps you can help me identify a zombie type that I've seen milling about in a churchyard in Hempstead Texas. It doesn't wander too much, so I haven't considered it much of a threat. I also sometimes see a type of wild dog (?) hanging out around the same spot? I don't know if zombies have pets, but aside from them, there are no other inhabitants left in this town. Could the dog and the zombie be the same? It's smaller than a wolf, so I've ruled out 'Werewolf'. My identification guide is in tatters and I only have one chapter left that is legible. That part deals with Macumba, so it has not been very helpful. I'd like to know if I can add this one to my 'lifelist', but just can't identify it.
The dog you are seeing is a wild dog. Since the time man has domesticated animals, we have been able to breed what ever types we want. But leaving the dog to bread within its gene pool, degrees the species to a common type of dog. Generally medium size, short hair, black or brown, best at scavenging. They follow zombies around much like other scavenger animals. ie birds, vermin and pests. But the wild dog will follow zombie. They may seen like companions to zombies, but they are very cautions. Usefully waiting for the zombie to finish its meal to move in, however sometimes feasting right along side. Some times confused as pets.

However, many pets do follow their owners around even after they have changed into zombies. Many of them get eaten, but some learn to live with their new owners, understanding not to get to close.

One very rare case of a one Micheal Sampton, Prescott Arizona was reported that his dog, a Doberman Pincher, would play a role in the hunt of his zombie master. The dog would help its zombie master find human prey. It's zombie master would attack its victim and the dog would feed with its zombie master. It would be impossible to think that its zombie master actually was giving the dog commands. But the zombie master would follow the dog, until it found something easier to catch.

What you saw was either a wild dog or a ZOMBIE PET, as the name is. Hope this helps. Check out LZ Writers Guilld. Would love to have you.

NAME: crawler

DESCRIPTION: a zombie that has either had part or all of its lower body removed leaving it only able to use its arms to move

ORIGIN: the are usually made by being dismembered before turning but some have been made after infection. Explosive are the main cause of post infection crawlers

TACTICS: be extremely cautious around any low hanging pipes or power lines. anything they can crawl on or hang from they will. also be cautious around ladders and balconies they like to ambush you from above. Also being as they are carrying half the weight of a normal zombie than can be quick.
I call them Sitters. General very melancholy, until you get near them. Then you have Hunters. Hunters are always on the prowl. Always walking, always searching. Then you have the Horde. The Horde are larger groups of zombies. Usually started by one or two Hunters who have joined together. They act as a magnet for other zombies. When The Horde begins to move, even Sitters join in. A horde will not stop till food is found.

Keep seein' some small fleshy things, like bugs, watched 'em tear some guy to shreds...very slow. These little buggers are determined too!

Name: Bugs!

Description: Unkown, usually a dark cloud in the air. AVOID IT!

Origin: Unkown, presumably flying insects that have eaten the flesh of zombies...I don't know.

Tactics: None, if you get them on you, your best bet for survival is fire, but they don't chase you, they wait, sorta like assasin bugs, wait, wait, wait, pounce. Don't get caught by them, you'll die screaming...
suspiciously like a parasite race from doctor who
NAME: grandads/grandmas or swampies

DESCRIPTION: very little flesh left. skeletal, slimy and alot of rot

ORIGIN: presumably the last stage of a zombie life cycle. the virus has begun to feed on the host, turning infected cells into nothing more than carriers, dropping off at random. simply touching one with an area of bare skin runs the risk of the virus entering your pores.

TACTICS: show no flesh. avoid if at all possible
Name: Geeks/ Nerds

Description: Star Trek based shirt, very thin, most likely near sighted

Origin: unknown *likely spawned from SiFi based breeding*

Tactics: they are very weak but very clingy and fast, keep them past arms length when intending to kill and best to use a melee weapon to ensure proper head bash

NAME:joggers

DESCRIPTION:a very muscular strain, runs instead of shuffles, extremely strong and agile, comes in a sorta sub-species type whick is orangish in color gets distracted easily and has what appear to be sorta porcupinish spines ontop of the head where hair should

ORIGINS:they originate in schools mostly but many have meen seen on beaches at a time

TACTICS;avoidance is probably the best plan of action but they can be distracted by mirrors seeing the reflection will probably cause them to smash the mirror.and supprisingly they do not like others in they,re strain

hooker/housewife/cryer

DEscription: makes a crying like whale walks in straight line will only attack if she is on her knees, usually missing most clothing-torn off in agony of infection.

if she is on her knees hide or run unless you have a mini gun or other insanely powerful weapon will not stop until dismembered has been known to cling to you from instincts, could infect you from nails as they have scratched there own skin.

Sort of like a rabid dog.
