Here is some make-up fx for my short. I used a 7 dollar halloween kit for all 4 zombies. Here I used some wax and latex along with light grey, dark grey, red, and purple make up.
Thanks i totally forget about the halloween kits, good choice of colors, most ppl say grey is not undead but if you like the classic romero zombies its fine i think (even if savini said later he wasnt that happy with the grey).
I was going for the classic romero type zombies. Thanks for noticing.
My personal view to the grey is, as you might have seen in most of my pics, one of my favorite things is the classic grey zombie, you can so easily mess aroung with grey and you have very "undeadish" results. Maybe its because of the nice contrast with red.
I think i remember it from a making of video which is on my anniversery editon of dawn, ill think i have to check it again, as far as i can remember they used grey (think i saw that they used grey at the behind the scenes makeup scenes) and the problem was that it turned out to be blue, it sounded plausible to me because with colder light (as they had it in the mall even with additional light). Im pretty sure someone has a good answer to that, in fact i think its an important question you bring up here.

My wife's co-worker came over to get done up.

He came back the next day to show me that he won BEST COSTUME!
Nice!
cool :)
Hey all...

This is my kind of group.. ok so Fancy dress is my passion second only to zombies... so halloween is my fav day of the entire year,,,

A cost effective wound kit is PVA Glue. it's a little time consuming but a hairdayer solves that problem...PVA glue is non toxic hence a kiddies favrouite arts and craft item so it;s unlikely to give you any side effects like a rash... but alway test a small area on your wrist 24hours before hand.

You'll also need standard make up kit, nothing fancy required, your mums make up bag is usually enough but if you can get some sort of face paint kit all the better.,.

You also need a pair of tweezers

ok so... Do your wound first... you can apply the rest of the make up later on and it will help to hide the edges while also giving a wrinkled peeling skin effect...

Apply a thin layer of glue to the area you want the wound... the bigger the gash you want the wider the area of glue ....

Use a hair dryer on medium heat to dry the glue... don't hold it too close now.. don't want you burning urself...

ok so one layer done... When totally dry - shouldn't take more than a few minutes apply another layer.. keep doing the same over and over when you get to like layer 5-6 get some black eye shadow... use a blusher brush ..of you're using your mums or girlfriends make sure you let them know and clean it after otherwise they will look like a vamp on their next outing....

lightly dust the dry layer with black powder... this is importants and it will help to add the illusion of depth to the wound.....

Keep applying layers til you have atleast 10-15 layers on..... rememeber to wait for the precious layer to be dry before applying the next.

ok so now you have a massive patch on glue on your neck or face or wherever,,,,, you look like a lepper....

Now take the tweezers and using one edge very carefully slice into the glue.. don't be a savage as you'll scratch your face....... Slice through a dew layers then a few more .... do it the length you want the wound but not right to the edfe of the patch.... leave atleast an inch either end.....

Now you've sliced thru take a black eyeliver pencil... and draw inside the slice... again be gentle... keep running the pencil up and down the slice until the outer edges of the slice start to flake up...... now you you can be inventivee... i find using a red lip liner to repeat the same thing adds a sore rawness to the effect....

i assume you have fake blood but if you don't deep red lipstick is a good second choice .....

if you do have fake blood insert the nozzle or top of the bottlle in to the gash and slowly start squeezing it in.... as it fills up stop and nod your head up and down, this will allow the blood to trickle in a natural way down your face...

Thats enough for now....

Add the rest of your make up... blend it into the edges of the glue patch and over it up near the gash,

Once you're done repeat the blood step again and your good to go.

i've got no pics at the mo .. but i will post some when i get my hands on them....

This might seem long and it might not be perfect first couple of times but i've been using this technique for years and it only takes as long as the glue takes to dry....

Have fun with it and try new things.... F**K ups are the father of invention!
Hahaha the last sentence i couldnt agree any more. The rest also, cant wait for the pics.
