The Airport

Jon sat impatiently in the small uncomfortable chair. His business flight to New York was delayed by four hours and he was trapped in this small hillbilly airport. He stood up and went to buy a bottled drink. Jon passed by a janitor’s closet and put his money into the machine.

The bottled coke rolled out and Jon reached down and opened it. He drank deeply then put the cap back on the bottle. Jon was walking back towards his seat when he heard a banging.
Jon slowly turned around and searched for the source of the banging. He walked back towards the machine and looked around. As he got closer to the janitor’s door the banging got louder.
“Hello. Anyone, in there? Do you need help?” Jon yelled. He stepped towards the janitor’s closet and tried to open the door. The door wouldn’t open but Jon tried twisting the door handle open.
He struggled with the door handle and finally the door swung outward. Jon looked inside the room but couldn’t see anything because no light was on in the room. Jon took a deep breath and stepped inside.

His hand swept across the wall searching for a light switch. Bright white lights came on in the room as Jon’s hand found the switch. Jon turned around and came face to face with a man, which is if you could call it a man.
Jon gaped as he stared at the man. The man had pieces of skin hanging from his cheek and a deep cut above his right eye. The horrible looking man grabbed Jon by the shoulders and bit into Jon’s throat.

Jon screamed as warm crimson blood shot out of his severed jugular. The man swallowed a mouthful of Jon’s flesh and bit into Jon’s neck again. The horrible man swallowed again and Jon collapsed. Jon’s last image, before he blacked out was seeing the horrible man swallowing a mouthful of Jon’s flesh.

A few minutes later two horrible men walked out of the janitor’s closet and met the people who had heard the scream.

Panic barely had a chance to register in the people's eyes before they were being persued by the two men. The smaller of the two, still in his business suit, frantically clawed at a nearby woman causing her to scream when he made contact. Her purse fell from her hand, hitting the floor and causing her phone and make up to fall out. Soon the linolium floor was streaked with crimson leading the fleeing bystanders to slip in their retreat.

The harder they tried to run, the more quickly their screams joined the chorus of others before settling into a low growl. Their footsteps marked the disarray at the airport as the security officers arrived, too late to even draw their weapons. Again their eyes grew wide before succumbing to the pain and inevitable hunger for flesh.

No one was spared. Mothers and their children were forced to abandon each other in the chaos.
The man in the business suit cornered a young woman with blonde hair who trembled when she took in his blood streaked face and hands. His dark navy suit was splattered with suspicious darker patches.

His eyes were wide but motionless, his mouth open in a partial grin- amusing as it would have been if it were not barely covering broken teeth and gashed lips. But this was no halloween outfit. It had to be, surely?

Her last thought was just that. Denial, disbelief. She clung to the thoughts even when his finger tips dug into her forearm, forcing her against a metal detector.

She vehemetly refused to accept what was happening until she felt his teeth rip into her shoulder, leaving nothing but tendons and bone showing.
She screamed, but it was cut off at the loss of her throat.
