A character idea I've been toying with is the story of a man or woman who decides to seclude them self from the world when the superflu began and has managed to not come into contact with any zombies or other survivors. It seems plausible that someone with enough knowledge of self sufficience living and who lives away from populated areas could survive in this scenario. This person's thoughts on the world events would be interesting. Does anyone have any thoughts, comments, etc?

I like the idea, but it'd be cool if this person decided to see what was going on in the world, I mean, radio and tv brodcasts have probs ended, so he/she has no idea if its bad or good out there, so they decide to go out and check out a town or city only to run into a town/city full of zombies and have no idea what to do, and you can base a whole story about them trying to get back to their hideout maybe with some help from others, think about it
Thanks for the reply. I had not even thought about their sanity, just their survival. The sanity angle opens up many possibilities. I'll throw another idea in to the fold, what if this person has a radio, T.V., and internet? They have access to the same information as the rest of the world, how does that information affect them up until broadcasting ceases?
I'm thinking reasoning skills would be dangerously low. High enough to stay alive but low enough to snap at any given moment on whoever may show up around the individual.
I dont know if this would be much help but nasa(i think) and some international dudes are doing an isolation experiment to see what the effects will be of a year in space its called Mars 500 i dont know where to get information about it and if i remember correct its supposed to start sometime this month. but maybe you could check out some of the symptoms of seclusion infact this study involves 6 people and as that would be about the size of a good zombie hunting group it could be benificial to some other things too.
and if she NEVER came in contact with the undead, one could ask why it is that she knows so much about them if it wasn't first-hand experience...?
Like the old woman in The Happening??
It would be really interesting to see the downfall of this person's plan to stay secluded. Throughout the outbreak, he/she believes he is truly safe, until one day a zombie randomly stumbles to his area and kills him because he is completely unprepared.
A sudden zombie invasion would be very interesting...if the lead left civilization during the super-flu pandemic they may not know of it's mutation into the zombie creating Campion Virus.
