Agreed but what about the heat factor? It gets mighty hot in Vegas and that metal tends to heat up right along with the temp wehn in the sun.

Simple thin long sleeve shirts and thin pants will help. The long sleeves will help wick away sweat and keep you cooler than if you did not have them. Also, there aren't too many shark proof armor in vegas. I would do my best to move to a more temperate area with more water. This, of course is a preference of mine and not feasible for most. Great idea and must be weighed against the pro's and con's of using one before use. Thanks!

also if you apply some vasoline to the back and sleeves it would help you get free from a grab

If we are talking about slow zombies I'm not too concerned. Something light would be best. Quick zombies? Yea I think your idea is good. Not entirely practical though. Hard to find a chain mail diver suit in Ohio.

yes hard to find but you might be able to find some kevlar biker suits. I think thick leather would work as well.

Also remember to cut your hair if you're not wearing any head protection. If in the course of things you (hopefully not) end up up close and personal, long hair can be grabbed in a scrum, and that kinda neams that you end up attached at arms length to a zombie.

While I agree that the chainmail used in shark wrangling would be as near to ideal as you could likely get in such a circumstance, I believe that perhaps it would be easier to look for something a bit more common, that still provides quality protection. Skate helmets are easy to get ahold of, but dont cover all of your cranium, even with said hockey mask. (One of my biggest 'oh man, what about..'s' is the back of the neck, specificaly)
A simpler, more readily available setup: Full motorcycle gear. The comparative downsides are that you can't realy patch leather very easily, and it tends to get warm. A good leather jacket is a bit easier to get ahold of, and still will repel any force that simple human claws and teeth could inflict. A full-face bike helmet will provide protection from saliva, blood and gore, while still providing an acceptable range of vision and motion. Hard-shell leather gloves will keep your hands safe, and they even sell kevlar jeans for performance racers. All that, a good pair of boots, and your hand dandy mellon smasher, and viola! You're set to slay some zombies in poor man's armor.

Well i like it! Sounds good and yet another thing to keep in mind! The only reason i went with the skate helmet and eye visor is that it is hard to sight in with a gun (Rifle, shotgun, ect.) With a full faced bike helmet. That and it will trap in 90% of your heat. Lastly, its hard to hear and communicate with them. But great points! THANKS!

The best armor in my opinion would be SWAT wear, but in a situation where you would have to improvise I think that something like a heavy coat would be quite good. Although the con would obviously be the enormous heat it would create in warm areas.
