Best Weapon for a zombie attack? Your thoughts...
Basically i have read a couple of different scenarios about what weapon would be best. I am going with a shotgun. Its unmatched all around. The rounds are easy to find and cheap to buy. The shotgun is easy to maintain. Plus it can make a great bludgeoning weapon when ammo is out. It is also easy to re-load. I also like a M-16 type rifle. It holds many rounds in a easy to reload magazine approx 30 rounds. The bullets are easy to make and reload. they have ok stopping power. You are able to send many rounds down range. It has been proven in combat and mostly you can upgrade it.
One must always have a side arm. I prefer a .40 cal pistol. It holds more rounds than a .45 and way more stopping power than a b.s. 9mm. It has stopping power close to a .45 but the drop off to bullet gained ratio is not much so i go with a .40.
I think that if you say "Sniper Rifle" You are truly a retard! Unless you are a trained professional sniper (and I'm guessing you're not) then dont use it. Even with trained snipers who have had this discussion with me have said that they dont think that it has a place in door to door zombie combat survival. Its way too complicated and not feasible. Sniping should be reserved for a fortified position where your distances, bullet drop ratio, elevation, angle of the shot, your rifle 'dope' are standard and known. Then, all you have to do is add in your wind and barometric pressure (depending on the distance). Sniping a head shot on a still target is hard enough then add in all the other variables, next to impossible for the lay-person. See my blog that i wrote in response to an IDIOT who said that he'd use a 'sniper rifle'. I have too much respect for REAL snipers and know enough about it to assume that I can just put the cross hairs on a zack and just pull the trigger. Sniping is NOTHING like in the video games. Get that through your head! Again I am only talking to a small majority on here. The majority of you all have pretty good heads on your shoulders and are smart. You are constantly surprising me with your ideas. I'm basically talking to the pre-pubescent males who play too many video games and seen too many movies.
Oh yeah. You need a primary weapon. If you just have a bat or a crow bar you'll tire yourself out too much too quickly. Its great if thats all you have or if it's your back up weapon but not a primary.
I want to know what you thing about primary weapons, side arms, and reserve weapons and when you should have them or have them all around or with you. What do you think?

Ok lets get serious if zombies attacked then a gun could be hard to get your hands on so if you cant get your back pack and who ever isnt a zombie. Go to the cabinet and fill your back pack with thick glass cups, marbels, a base ball bat, power tools if you dont have a nail gun get a air soft gun and needles.

Not everyone will live. That's right. You depend on youself and no one else. If there is someone who can be helpful fine if there is someone you can help that's good too. Just because I have guns does not mean I will survive automatically. The fact that I prepare to survive increases my odds. Another point I'd liek to make is people are going to have to be cut throat at times and some don't have it in them.

an airsoft gun is as useful as a shit flavored lolly-pop. The ammo is not that heavy and doesnt have great velocity. Plus, an air soft rifle needs next to pin point accuracy therefore rendering it useless except as a bat, cane or a possible splint. I think the contrary is true about the readyness of guns. Dont forget, gun owners will be zombies as well and not be able to use their weapons. So you could stumble on to their weapons.
The key here is planning and preparedness. Buy your guns now. If not for a zombie attack then for fun and home defense. Then, you wont have this issue. I know I am. Also think about getting some camping gear with a pump action water filter with extra filters. They will be priceless and you may be able to steal them from a sports store.
I do like the idea of marbles, very clever! Watch out though, they may work against you -

The air soft gun is for three reasonse
1. hiting any buttons you cant get to without breaking them
2.causing a distraction shot something far away so some of the zombies will go check it out
3. for a last resort weapon i also said bring pins and needles i have done this before it does work enles the gun gets jamed. put 1 pin or needle down the barrel your best bet is to aim for the eyes when you have it lined up fire = blinded zombie -

Are you the soldier in your picture or are you the other one? I'm assuming that you are the younger kid. (no offense intended. sometimes these messages can be read the wrong way :D)
Be that as it may, if you talk to that soldier he'll be able to tell you that pin point accuracy with a weapon like an air soft gun is EXTREMELY difficult. I was in the Marines (With tours in Iraq) and they had us fire, re-load, and do a whole bunch of easy tasks under extremely stressful situations until we could do anything asked of us under the most stressful, uncomfortable, and loud scenarios while being sleep deprived, food deprived and being mentally taxed for days on end. Ask that soldier there about how easy it is to hit a target with a small little bullet. He'll tell 'ya that it takes skill and practice and maybe a little bit of natural talent. On top of that, i dont think an air soft gun is capable of breaking the skull. Let alone hit a zombie with a needle in the eye. I am also a fire fighter who has worked the streets of vegas and have seen my fair share of trauma.
I didnt understand what you meant by number 1. Or number 2, for that matter ither; if you cause a distraction shot, who's to say the zombie wont come after you. As for number 3, i have no doubt in my mind that you have tried it and it will work, but in a real scenario where a blood thirsty zombie is charging at you and you are tired, weak, hungry, shaking and all around flustered, you wont be able to hit a zombie in the eyeball. Dont forget that a zombie is a moving target.
I also realize that since you are so young (again i dont know which one you are or how old you are so dont take offense) you would not be able to get you hands on any fire arms. Your best bet is to barricade yourself with H20, food and a blunt object. When dealing with the undead you best use stealth and avoidance at all cost until and after you have firearms. Lets face it, if the world goes to crap, NO ONE will really care that you have a gun. In fact, they might require you have one.
Lastly, a blind zombie is still dangerous. Not as effective, sure, but still dangerous. -

i said as a last resort and i have thought of every senario out i may be 14 but i do know what im talking about. i dont take offence.
By number one i ment if you need to get to something like say you are in a lab there are doors were if you hit a button they close if zombies are running in and you need to shut the door but you cant reach the button with out getting bit you would shoot the button the door would close problem solved.
By number two i mean if there is a large number of zombies you could shoot something that would make a loudenuff noise to confuse the zombies and they would split up to investigate the othere noise too so there arent as many you have to kill.
if you dont understand im srry i cant help. but i asure u that it can be usefull.
I dont take any affence but just because im 14 doesnt mean im incompident and dont know what im talking about. -

IM WITH U AIRSOFT GUNS ARNT FOR COMBAT BUT CAN FIRE NEEDLES BUT IF U CAN HAVE A AIRSOFT GUN why not just get a bb gun of airsoft shotgun full of needles for a mod just get a lazer.
and dont diss it how would u lik it if u had 20 or 30 needles flying at your face. but 1 needle there right it would be a waste of time. -
