Basically i have read a couple of different scenarios about what weapon would be best. I am going with a shotgun. Its unmatched all around. The rounds are easy to find and cheap to buy. The shotgun is easy to maintain. Plus it can make a great bludgeoning weapon when ammo is out. It is also easy to re-load. I also like a M-16 type rifle. It holds many rounds in a easy to reload magazine approx 30 rounds. The bullets are easy to make and reload. they have ok stopping power. You are able to send many rounds down range. It has been proven in combat and mostly you can upgrade it.

One must always have a side arm. I prefer a .40 cal pistol. It holds more rounds than a .45 and way more stopping power than a b.s. 9mm. It has stopping power close to a .45 but the drop off to bullet gained ratio is not much so i go with a .40.

I think that if you say "Sniper Rifle" You are truly a retard! Unless you are a trained professional sniper (and I'm guessing you're not) then dont use it. Even with trained snipers who have had this discussion with me have said that they dont think that it has a place in door to door zombie combat survival. Its way too complicated and not feasible. Sniping should be reserved for a fortified position where your distances, bullet drop ratio, elevation, angle of the shot, your rifle 'dope' are standard and known. Then, all you have to do is add in your wind and barometric pressure (depending on the distance). Sniping a head shot on a still target is hard enough then add in all the other variables, next to impossible for the lay-person. See my blog that i wrote in response to an IDIOT who said that he'd use a 'sniper rifle'. I have too much respect for REAL snipers and know enough about it to assume that I can just put the cross hairs on a zack and just pull the trigger. Sniping is NOTHING like in the video games. Get that through your head! Again I am only talking to a small majority on here. The majority of you all have pretty good heads on your shoulders and are smart. You are constantly surprising me with your ideas. I'm basically talking to the pre-pubescent males who play too many video games and seen too many movies.

Oh yeah. You need a primary weapon. If you just have a bat or a crow bar you'll tire yourself out too much too quickly. Its great if thats all you have or if it's your back up weapon but not a primary.

I want to know what you thing about primary weapons, side arms, and reserve weapons and when you should have them or have them all around or with you. What do you think?

I agree that the shotgun is unmatched, but...

My primary weapon of choice is the Fusil Automatique Léger (F.A.L)
Reasons:
1) With a scope, scilencer, and bipod, it is automatically an unmatched 20 round clip semi auto sniper rifle
2) Without a scope and bipod it is a very accurate rifle that has quite a punch to it

My secondary weapon of choice is a Striker Shotgun
Reasons:
1) If the Fusil Automatique Léger runs out of ammo it is a very good substitute (outdoors) with buckshot
2) In doors with pigeonshot (pellets) it has unmatched stopping power
Sniper Rifle. Just kidding, I understand your point. Semi-automatic rifle, any model really. I don't know much about guns, but any med. caliber hunting rifle would do. In terms of my favorites though, SPAS-12 and a Scar-L. Completely unrealistic, I know, but those are my favorite guns. Sidearm would be a Colt .45 because I like pulp fiction too much.

Melee would be a heavy bladed machete with a hook point on the end.

And, about AK-47's. Just a comment. Those f'ers KICK. The bolt moves at least 2/3 the length of the body, compared to a few inches on a more precision rifle. Effective range is also drastically reduced, as the barrel BENDS in full auto. (youtube "high speed camera AK47" if you don't believe me.) Might be okay for experienced shooters, but please, for the love of your zed-killing ass, keep it semiauto.
im got to go with a scar-l but realisticly id have a mf for the scar id have to go to a military ase or something sidearm would be a semi auto glock 40 mm. with high compacity magazines. i have a compound bow wiche you could use with oiled rags lighter on a bandit house couse if its a zombie and cant feel pain it would take way to long to kill them.
For a primary firearm I would go with a SIG556 Swat Patrol Rifle. It's compact but still has amazing accuracy. For my secondary a Sig 1911 Tactical Ops Handgun which is chambered in 45 ACP(Yes I'm a Sig fan). And to look cool I would carry dual khukuri blades for slicing off the hands and jaws of zeds when they got too close or if I run out of ammo. Lucky for me I have trained my self in the art of parkour(look it up on youtube) so I will be easily able to get atop many buildings which to me will offer the most safety then trying to out run them on them on the ground. Also I'm learning how to operate helicopters which I will use to fly to a remote island where I can sit back and drink coconut smoothies and eat lizards and fish :)

Learning to fly helicopters eh, lets put this to the test, im a civilian pilot, and i want you to tell me, how to  properly start a turbine engine in a helicopter, Reply soon, i gotta here this bahaha
Another weapon to take into effect is what zombies dont have....brains! If you're a pathetic shot but are a great tactics man, use your surroundings to your advantage.

Minimize your entrances and open your exits. (hmm...that was a zombie land rule, right? anyway...)
Also, if you can rig up traps, do it!
Zombies are idiots for the most part, use it to your advantage.

Other than that, for actual weapons I would say keep it to long range and close range weapons, wide range and narrow range. My personal suggestions would be:
Long Range: Hunting Rifle (silencer if possible, dont want every meat sack to hear you)
Short Range: Shotgun or blades (Machete and Katana)
Wide Range: Grenades, Claymores, all your stuff that goes BOOM!
Narrow range: (See Long Range)

WHAT DO Y'ALL THINK?!
i think that the best weapon is the new kriss 45 acp because it has low recoile and high rate of fire plus its short compact and easy to maruver and the 45 acp is the best round out there
i do a combo basis on weapons if i absolutely need to fight *i use my brain as primary.* between my .40 cal Baby Eagle and my Hawk Hatchet, shoot em up unless they get close enough to take with my Hatchet in the other hand....
I wouldn't suggest a gun as a main weapon, as they can easily run out of ammo when your fighting hordes of zombies. If you were to choose a gun, choose either a Light Machine Gun, pistol, or sub machine gun. LMG's have loads of ammo and can last you a while, have a high mag capacity, and do a fair amount of damage, theye aren't too fast so they aren't ammo shredders. Pistols are slow shooters with better accuracy so they don't shred ammo, they are light and good for getting out of sticky situations. SMG's, although they shred through ammo, have a good mag capacity, do lots of damage, and are light as so are pistols. Definitely do not choose shotguns or snipers. Shotguns, for one, have a bad range, low magazine capacity, are hard to reload, and have the worst accuracy. The only thing they are good for is the damage they do. Snipers can protect you in close encounters, and believe me, no scoping ain't easy in real life. Snipers also have a bad mag capacity, shoot too slow, and are heavy. For melee weapons, a taser could do good, or some electric piece of weaponry. Chainsaws are good but they can rut out of fuel fast. Bats will do you a lot of work, but wooden ones break too easily and metal ones are heavy. Knives can dull out very quickly, crow bars are too heavy as are pipes and hammers. An axe will be of great use so get one of those, as will a sledge hammer. But there are only two weapons that are best of all...A car and a butter knife, you can't go wrong with these. Hope you take my advice very, very seriously. *wink*
Wow, that's very enlightening. Where did you get all of your firearms experience?
The perfect set, i use for TAC competitions, are the beretta 92f, i have the glock 26 .40cal with the ankle holster, and my primary is a Krink ( aks-74u) its shorter has overall good accuracy, and shoots a round similar to the .223 and is great for the door to door zombie killin, and even when you start travelling on the road, it gets a little hard if your gonna have a full sized rifle on your lap, but the stock on the krink folds and turns out to be a very short weapon, and can be shot without hastle out of the car window.

You talk about the aks 47u being good size. "It was hard having full size clip on your lap".I hope you got a ammo crate in the backseat for your drive-bys. Run them over save your ammo! Me personaly would try and stay away from populated areas. My first choice in personal defense you be a m-14 and at close range Id use a machete.
