If you dont know what either of these is, then look them up on Google images.
The Shaolin spade is an extremely effective tool when combating the undead. it is able to decapitate/ smash the skull of a zombie in one blow. but the problem is that it is rather large and bulky, an army entrenchment tool is shorter but has the same abilities. It also serves as a good tool to use when digging, somthing you will have to do when disposing of remains.
So which one should you put in your zombie killing arsenal in case (inevitably :)) the dead rise?

You're going to want to put as much space between you and the zombie, because unless your stab is an instant kill (which it won't be), the zombie will bite you, even after stabbed. The Shaolin spade would be more effective. Digging isn't important.
well yea, trenches could help, but if you're in a spot where you'll have the time to dig trenches, the spot won't really require trenches. Know what I mean?
My brother is in the National Guard, recently received his gear, including an entrenchment tool (E-tool). It's small(ish), but the edges are sharpened AND serrated, plus it folds up quickly for better storage. They are meant to be used in close combat if need be, and are probably easier to find.

I'd use an E-tool, no doubt about it.
E-TOOL (100% straight up)
serrated is horrible when dealing with zombies.
yea i mean what if theres a bunch of those fuckers whouldnt you need a gun i mean i couldnt use a melee weapon (only in case of emergency like out ammo)i mean melee = more chance getting bittin but for those crazy people its fun :P
Why not use a pick axe handle, its much better than both
axe handles will eventually break.....
pick axe handles are designed to be hit onto hard surfaces and not break and are nowadays made from either a hardwood like hickory or oak or are made from a polyeurathane which will NEVER break.

You need months of practise from a skilled tutor to learn to use any martial art weapon. Plus if you are one of those few people who can use a shoalin spade, all removing the head will do (showing the shortfalls of the amaturish book by max brookes) will leave you with a biting and snapping infected head rolling around.
E-tools are designed to take a beating as well, plus they're far more compact (they fold into a pouch that's about 8x8" or 6x6"...I'm not sure which, I didn't measure).
why dig trenches and fight in them while combating the undead? seems sorta like setting yourself up to fail to me... suicide almost..
I would try a mix of both
