Lost Zombies

So we all love to sit around and talk about where we go for the next zombie outbreak:
`Lets go to Costco.`
`Lets go to Big 5 they have guns there!`
But stop and think for a minute. In the event of an emergency where people are being evacuated or under attack, EVERYONE is going to need supplies and weapons. This means that places like Walmart or Costco or even Liqour stores are going to be cleaned out.
Also, where would you hold up assuming you do have supplies? The High School? The police station? A store? Ohs ure, nobody else will think of that.
How about getting to a location? Streets? Freeways? Its not like there will be any traffic will there? And its not like the military wont be blocking roads or enforcing Marshal Law.
In the situation of infection, you will soon learn that the zombies will be the least of your troubles.
So What do you do?
Where do you get supplies?
Where are you gonna go?
How are you gonna get there?
Think about all the factors (besides zombies) that will hinder it.

Banks have a built in saferoom too. The Vault. Short term use only.

my biggest problem with banks is the lack of resouces. it is built to withstand alot, espicaly the vault but it would suck to have to use the bathroom and sleep in the same area. the smell alone would drive someone insane or sufficate them. unless the banks two story then u could be good.

Banks have bathrooms. How else would the staff be able to use the facilities during work and stuff?

i meant if u had to be in the vault. and when the shit hits the fan utilties are not going to be available so if u have a two story complex u could just go back to the olden days and give the duce a heeve ho if u catch my drift. sorry for not clearifing my statement

I only said the bank could be used temporarily. Banks a normally in the most built up areas of even rural areas. Built up areas with people are not my idea of a good place to hold out long term.

I gotta say a Small local Jail in a small town/city. I mean sure there's bound to be Stenches wandering around but after you've secured the jail then you can launch foraging missions pretty much at will. The buildings secure and there are yards where you could grow foods in the summer and never have to worry about intrusion. The place is designed to be secure. You could easily snipe out any Ghouls who come close and every sector has a series of heavy duty barred doors so even if you had a "mishap" then it would only ever be confined to one area. I got the idea while I was in one such institution last year. I got to know the building pretty well and had to admit it would be perfect in so many ways. Controlled entrance and exits. The garage uses a two door system where only one door can be opened at a time and there's camera's everywhere and I'm sure with a little ingenuity and a few car batteries or the like we could keep them online . I even spoke to a few of the Guards about what would happen in a potential scenario(they laughed and thought I was crazy) but they all said they'd open the doors and let the inmates go. The inmates all having the mentality of being trapped in there would have instinctively took off and then what? All we'd have to do is make it there. Secure it then after that it would be like running a camp.

that's why you write it generically.... ie: mountains, island, lake etc. 1 of my buddies is trying to buy an old missle silo. It has: lots of room, Garge door/Blast door big enough to drive a few tanks into, built into side of mountain up private roads. living quarters for underground living and air/water-filtration systems active.... not bad for less than 90G

Yeah not bad seeing that everything is gutted. I've seen those for sale. You spend a lot of money fixing it up. It makes a great zombies resistant abode. Hell just wait until the shit hits the fan and just move in.

i can honestly say that i'v never anyone mention a missle silo so that very original, and i was thinking about the prisons as well but i agree with Paul. a small town or county prison would be good.

My plan is to try and ride things out in my own house. My town is literally middle of nowhere with not a lot of people. I obviously would board up windows and doors and gather as much food and weapons from my town as i could. i think i would probably have to worry about some people in my town because there's a lot of crazies that'd try to take advantage of the situation.

I took the clothes from the deceased guard, along with his weapon, a glock 19... my M4 was out, and 9mm is better then nothing. There was a lot of activity down in these corridors.

I walked for days with my buddy, Leo. He took this pic about 3 hours before he was dragged into an empty building and bitten. I killed all four zombies, but it was too late... he began to change and I had to put him down too.

*As i walked down the street, i saw a sign on a door saying (PURE ONE INSIDE, HELP)* "There's a survivor in this house!' I scream, many of the survivors hear my scream. as i rip down the door, to my surprise, i didn't see a helpless peasent or a ...
