Where do you go? (A realistic view)
So we all love to sit around and talk about where we go for the next zombie outbreak:
`Lets go to Costco.`
`Lets go to Big 5 they have guns there!`
But stop and think for a minute. In the event of an emergency where people are being evacuated or under attack, EVERYONE is going to need supplies and weapons. This means that places like Walmart or Costco or even Liqour stores are going to be cleaned out.
Also, where would you hold up assuming you do have supplies? The High School? The police station? A store? Ohs ure, nobody else will think of that.
How about getting to a location? Streets? Freeways? Its not like there will be any traffic will there? And its not like the military wont be blocking roads or enforcing Marshal Law.
In the situation of infection, you will soon learn that the zombies will be the least of your troubles.
So What do you do?
Where do you get supplies?
Where are you gonna go?
How are you gonna get there?

i wanna be like bert from tremors but im lacking the funds. desert always seemed to be a good choice to me except for getting there and water shortages. maybe i can luck ou and find area 51 and they can let me in or some shit

I would go with a colder climate first. Don't ya think the cold would slow them down a bit. even freeze up their blood and muscles some?

ur completly right, but i HATE cold weather. i might as well get a tan while the zombies come. even though we can adopt to cold weather it only gives u one season to prepare for a 3 season hold out. not alot of people live out i the desert unless they migrate from cali. maybe i'll be in afganastan when this happens and have the best of both worlds lol.

Prison. Big ass strudy prison.
walls are solid gold, inmates that want out and will certainly draw attention and z's away, and loads of room on the inside.
European style brickwall prison though, not guantanamo barbed wire prison.
second choice would be right wheere I live... college dorm, first floor, just destroy the stairs and nobody is following. -

Are you going to have about three dozen men in your group to be able to secure ALL the prison's points of entry? Are you going to be able to neutralize the threat IN the prison before you take it over as your own? Because you know that there will be both prisoners and zombies involved in this small area...plus guards. Are you going to be able to get food easily (since most prisons are pretty out of the way, location-wise, and supplies are difficult to get) The only, ONLY thing prisons have going for them is that there are electrical generators and med supplies. Food can last a little longer, since there's generally a lot needed to feed thousands of inmates, but at the same time, it would be a tactical disaster as far as actually defending it against a hoarde. Unless, of course, you are planning on having dozens of people with you who know how to snipe from the towers. And no, snipings not that easy nor is it something you can just "pick up" like jumping rope.
Better bet is a heavily-walled shelter LIKE a prison, but more along the lines of a bank or gov't building, where there are very few ways for Z's to get into. This is the key in defense, if you're going to hole up somewhere for a while- how many places can the enemy get into my hiding spot from? -

my biggest problem with banks is the lack of resouces. it is built to withstand alot, espicaly the vault but it would suck to have to use the bathroom and sleep in the same area. the smell alone would drive someone insane or sufficate them. unless the banks two story then u could be good.
