So we all love to sit around and talk about where we go for the next zombie outbreak:
`Lets go to Costco.`
`Lets go to Big 5 they have guns there!`
But stop and think for a minute. In the event of an emergency where people are being evacuated or under attack, EVERYONE is going to need supplies and weapons. This means that places like Walmart or Costco or even Liqour stores are going to be cleaned out.
Also, where would you hold up assuming you do have supplies? The High School? The police station? A store? Ohs ure, nobody else will think of that.
How about getting to a location? Streets? Freeways? Its not like there will be any traffic will there? And its not like the military wont be blocking roads or enforcing Marshal Law.
In the situation of infection, you will soon learn that the zombies will be the least of your troubles.
So What do you do?
Where do you get supplies?
Where are you gonna go?
How are you gonna get there?
Think about all the factors (besides zombies) that will hinder it.

I mentioned this in another discussion somewhere... Here we're talking of the initial outbreak, the chaos blah blah blah.... Not everyone will have the same circumstance, but still ...

A person is intelligent, people are thick as shit. In the event of an outbreak the initial days prior to say Marshal law being imposed people will be freaking and panic buying ... eventually the army or whoever try to use their braun to deal with the problem. At this stage the numbers are too many and their knowledge of them not great so the army flee.

Some people will try to escape the town/city etc... Most won't make it. Eventually in the space of say 1 week, the chaos caused by people will be over. All thats left is a broken city/town crawling with the undead.

Trying to join in the survival during week 1 is futile and stupid. Most people have enough food in their homes on a daily basis to eat for a month... we think we don't but we do... it usually lasts a week cos we indulge.. Anyway... so the week of chaos, your best bet is litrally to do NOTHING, Board up your house make it inpenetrable...much easier if you live in a large building. You;re not gonna have to leave for a while so no worried there.... By the end of the week, most of the idiots that hit the streets in an attempt to survive will be undead....frankly they scare me less than the living...

All the people who hit walmart (US) or ASDA (UK) or Carrefour (EUROPE) will be dead and their homes fully stocked with all the things they thought they'd get to use...

Once all that is left is the undead... then you make your move...
Good clear thinking Claire
Good thinking if you're at home when TSHTF. I like the idea of not panicking and keeping a low profile. Sometimes you have to move. When you do it make sure you know where you're going and have a good idea of what is waiting for you.

STAY ALIVE

Right on! My plan exaclty!
As I recall, a bunch of enviromentalist did make a go of it on an old oil rig in the north sea several years ago, so it is possible. For those of us that don't live within 500 miles of an oil rig, maybe not a good plan. Supplies need to be gathered in advance (that why it's PREpare not POSTpare), the means to load them and move then has to be available (suitable containers for the amount of stuff you need to move and a vehicle to do it of any terrain). As for location, nothing obvious. I was checking out an abandon concrete processing plant near where I live. Few windows and doors, thick walls, high observation tower, big vehicle bay, lots of open area around it.

i have only read through a few comments but from what i gather most of you don't take this seriosly EVEN THOUGH IT SAYS REALLSTICALLY ON THE PAGE FRONT

i dont want to get into the discussion if zombies are or arn't but i am a solid BELIEVER that the human race will be stupid enough to try to bring back the dead or make clones or try to cure cancer (i am legend) and creat a totally hostile phenominon thats sole purpose is to eat/kill/eradicate the human race. hell it could be robots to a fucked up rabies mutagion i don't care take this serious or get out...

if the infection is small and you have enough supplies to stay in ur house with whole family for a month and you actually live alone u have the bare minimom of supplies you will need.  once the infection gets in the multi hundredsyou need to find a new home.  the very best way to prepare is to know about the infection befor hand.  which is impossible (unless your one of the idiotic fools who cause the out breack) the stuff you will nedd for  an out breackfallows step by step with any other  crisis food for a month clean water and everything else for a month if i a serious crisis if you live in the city avoid highly human trafficed area like large malls or parks.stick rich neighborhoods or an abandoned street. have atleast three other people in your group. and  HAVE A PROFESSIONAL MEDICAL KIT RQADIO AND BLANKETS.
