Does anyone know the effectiveness of using electricity on a zombie. Can it electrocute and burn the zombie till its dead, or can the current affect the brain in some way?
Let's say that I lead a group of biters to a pond or something. Once they're in the water, I somehow throw a live, high voltage cable(s) in the water. SUre it'll fry 'em, but how effective would it be to have electric fences? Tasers? Cattle prods?

Theoretically, it would be somewhat effective. But only in neutralizing the Zack. The electricity would lock up the muscles but without direct conduction to the CNS it would not re-kill it.
The same elektricity it takes to melt a humans brain would i belive melt a zombies
Electricity has to be focused to the brain though, if you just electrocute something, the electricity spreads evenly through the whole body. Humans can't stand this because it destroys nerve endings and muscles that zombies don't care about.
im not sure, but i think it would have the same effects as on humans, but without the heart stoppage
Zombies dont feel pain so its obvious their nervous systems are shut down. The most it could do is cause muscle to tighten and lock for as long as it is being shocked. So tasers and cattle prods would be pretty ineffective cept to maybe quickly cause it to drop but it would get right back up again. It would take high amount of voltage and/or long period of time in order to char a zombie. Electric fences could work if you were able to juice the hell out of the fence. but for practical use I wouldnt depend on it. like I said b4 electricity will cause muscles to lock. So you'll now have a bunch of zeds stuck to your fence. Also you cannot depend on regular electricity cuz you never know when your utilities will be shut down.
unless you have a dedicated generator for juicing the fence you're not gonna get any results at all. and you would still melt your fence.

it would be a better use of your time to buikd a wall of some sort.
watch George a. Romeros dairy of the dead. its got a good scene where they use defribulater paddles on a zombie. its good stuff and fun to watch
I study electronics, and electricity is made of three parts resistance, volts, and amps. Volts can hurt you but its the amps that kill you. Voltage at the spark plug in your car can be anywhere from 40,000 to 100,000 volts and I have been hit with that and trust me it hurts. But .1 amps (100 milliamperes) is usally fatal. So if a human got hit with .1 amp anywhere on the body the out come would most likely be fatal. So if you shocked a zombie with .1 amps or to be safe .5 amps the electricity would disrupt the brain and kill the zombies. So yes large amounts of electricity would kill zombies. But hope they are close to the cable because the farther out they are the less it will hurt them.
Only if we are dealing with brain-zombies, or T-virus type.
If we're dealing with other types...like the ones you have to destroy, electricity would be worse than useless.
how do you generate .1 amps
One ampere is equal to a coulomb/second
One watt is a joule/sec

Forget about r=e/i. A simple formula that will work for you is the power equation. Power = current x voltage

example: 1200 watts at 120 volts is 10 amps

One ampere is defined to be the constant current which will produce a force of 2×10^-7 newton per metre of length between two straight, parallel conductors of infinite length and negligible circular cross section placed one metre apart. The ampere is most accurately realized using a watt balance, but is in practice maintained via Ohm's Law from the units of EMF and resistance, the volt and the ohm, for you guys in the UK... Main voltage in the UK is 230v so Watts = 13 x 230 = 2990 watts or just under 3kW, do the rest and its done, above info can help.
OK thanks hopefully I'll never have to try and figure that out. I'm really just good in mechanics. once i get to wiring problems i get stuck
