One thing going to the gun shop is most defiantly the worst idea ever so if i were you get a gun now and reserve your ammo cause there is going to be a million other people with the same idea and there going to be willing to do what ever to protect themselves and whoever there with to get there before you, that means a lot of people turning on each other. So what i suggest is gather what ever you have in your house or outside of your house such as baseball bats, crowbars, any blunt weapon anything that could cause harm to a persons head would work.

i dont need to get to any gun store, i work at a trap club, so i have access to about 20, 12 gauges, 10, 20 gauges, and 3, 21 gauges...also all the ammo you can hope for :D

gun stores, military weapons, shot guns (too loud) all you will cause is your own death or alert more zombies to your location. Give me a compound bow as a main weapon because you can make your own arrows when needed and give me machette as a secondary weapon any day and we will see who survives the longest.

a lot of people want military gun in reality you arent gonna find ammofor theam that easily. so thats why im sticking to my 12gage, 30-06 and 22 pistol if i need to i can go to walmart and mayhoods sporting goods before every one else in my area and get pleant of ammo. ive already got this shit well thought out

go to cheaperthandirt.com it dosent have guns but it has gun accescories realy really good ones. pretty everything you could ever want for your gun cleaning,extra parts,scopes,bayonets anything

swords, and melee weapons are best unless you have a long range rifle with a suppressor. and a close range range gun if your blade get stuck or breaks.(watch out for a flying blade and if you dumb light your blade on fire it's cool flaming sword!)

roflmao flaming sword but no even with a supressor its still kind of loud melee wepons are ok but they get stuck so its better to throw your sharp melee weapons at the zombies

You guys talking about swords and bats crack me up! Lemme ask you one thing: how do zombies kill? If you answered "By getting close enough for them to bite/claw you to death" then you would be right. Now lets look at the weapons again. How do you hit a zombie with a bat? Once again, the correct answer is "By getting close enough for them to bite/claw you to death". Now compare the two answers. Wow, look at that... THEYRE THE SAME! I guess that means you probably don't want a weapon that puts you directly in harms way. That leaves guns. Some of you are saying "but the zombies will hear the guns! oh noes!" 1) You dont even know if the damn things CAN hear, and 2) if you have to use the gun, THEY FOUND YOU ANYWAY! Even if we discount everything above, how many zombies do you think you can bludgeon with a crowbar before your arms get too tired to lift? My guess is unless you work construction or can bench 250+, about 3. Get real people. You want a gun thats reliable, easy to use, and with plenty of ammo. There are literally thousands of soviet era "assault" rifles all over the country and enough ammo to start a war. Hell, some of them come with bayonets, and if you really get down to it, a 10 pound rifle makes one hell of a louisville slugger.

It makes your entire 'death scene' that much more dramatic (you get to cry, then you can either get all resolute, or you can just be screaming nooooo when your explosives detonate). Heh.
And it lets EVERYONE know that you just committed suicide in one of the most ridiculous fashions possible, with more collateral damage and less actual damage than your ass warranted.

Aerophyre- Zombies can hear. They have every sense that we do except they can't feel pain.
And what about those of us that are too young to own a firearm? Also, if you have absolutely no training with a rifle, you stand a better chance of hurting yourself than a zed. With a firearm in your hands, you become cocky, because you have a "boom stick". This can lead to rash decisions, and may get you in more trouble than you can handle. While I would love to have a firearm with some training, I have a carbon steel blade machete with a full tang and a titanium alloy crowbar. And I'm constantly packed.

OOC: WHOA!! where did that come from?
I took the clothes from the deceased guard, along with his weapon, a glock 19... my M4 was out, and 9mm is better then nothing. There was a lot of activity down in these corridors.
eventually I found veggitation again, and a bunker that led to this base... where I was statoned before the outbreak.
I walked for days with my buddy, Leo. He took this pic about 3 hours before he was dragged into an empty building and bitten. I killed all four zombies, but it was too late... he began to change and I had to put him down too.
