So I have been researching and trying to find the best place to set up a fortress. The mountains seem promising because the Zach can't climb very well. The plains seem good because they can a great amount of openess, and you can see "them" miles away. the desert seems suisidal. I would put my money on the tundra. A bunch of corpes cycles year round. If you made your fortress in enough they would probably freeze up before they got to ya. any thoughts?
Task Force Amazon is currently operating in the mountains of New Mexico, and if you wonder what type of terrain New Mexico has, just watch Red Dawn it was filmed here. In one of my blogs the infected pooled at the bottom of a depression and were eliminated, they don't climb so the mountain ridges and cliffs offer some added security. We send out patrols and the surrounding armed survivor camps also conduct patrols to watch for bands of armed men and the infected, we can see for miles from the high ground. Our terrain is idea for combat operations, and there are plenty of maps of the area, along with compasses we took from a Class III dealers store, so our patrols can navigate. Our horse patrols also have very little problem operationing in the mountains, and we do have access to dirt bikes and ATV's, but those are a little to noisy and draws a crowd of living and infected. Only time we leave the high ground is to search abandon cars, homes and stores for supplies . Remember where you are during the outbreak is where you're gonna make a stand, if you're in Kansas, well thats were you fight
You can call our scenario Red Dawn meets Dawn of the Dead ; )
