glad to say i always got my gear ready to go, firearms, spare ammo, a few options for blunt & bladed weapons and the food & water to match. im in a single floor building so im blockin doors & windows with interior doors from rooms, my roomates are definitely capable of surviving so we work as a team making an access for getting to the roof, then i plant myself on it with my .223 rifle & 500 rounds of ammo in case i happen to miss a few times (but i never miss =] ) after i clear enough walkers we load all the gear & supplies and after a couple quick stops for extra food & water, at any of the abandoned stores or markets along the way, we make a break for the first harbor i can, find me a boat with an engine & a sail and make my way to deep water until we run out of supplies or at least the initial panic subsides

what if your roomates actually TURNED against you and took your wepons,or were complete asses and took off and left the door open? and how about the possibility that the harbor is over run and theres no boats? plan B maybe?

Well I only live with family. My wife and son and my brother his wife and their daughter. My brother doesn't have any guns at the time. I'm the only one. But my wife is scared of loaded guns so I keep all the loaded mags for my guns in another room. Which will b a timesaver when tshtf. But my 410 will have to be loaded. Its a bolt action. And I have a mini-14 with 6mags and a 380 with one 7rd clip. But I have a big pocket knife and a k-bar and 2crowbars and a hammer in my toolbag. First thing I would do is wake my brother up and cover only one big window we have in the front of the house. For that we use a sheetmetal we always use during hurricane season. We need to get to the extra gear in the garage which is seperate from the house. Not good. There I have a sword 1pair of nunchucks a few butterfly knives and more crowbars and hammers. We work in shifts on the roof picking off z's 1 at a time till we r close to no ammo. At that point we need to get the hell outta there. Where I don't know. I only have 300rds for the mini 75 shells for the bolt and only 25rds for the 380. Shots need to count!

see you have your head on a little tighter than others, but lets not forget you also have a bigger list to tend to, like you said above you have to be ready for hurricane season which is a admirable feat in its own. i like how you have plenty of melee weapons on hand because shots surely do need to count. i mean why take out 1 zombie with your 410 when you could just as easily hit it with a hammer, as for me im staying in my home, and ill sleep in the attic. much easier than trying to slice and dice my way to an oil rig or a jet ski. good plan none the less, i commend you
