I have an odd writing method. When I sit down to write a chapter I quite often have no idea what is going to happen next.I read back what I have, the movie starts playing in my mind and I start writing down whats happening and what the characters are saying. My characters are very real to me, each one I know like an old friend and I try to convey as much as I can of their history so the reader gets to know them too.
Music is a great influence/inspiration too, once again I see music in my minds eye and often a song will trigger a scene in my story, much like a video clip.I also watch a lot of foreign language films, in fact 90% of what I watch doesn't come from Hollywood because Hollywood has been remaking foreign films or rehashing the same special effects driven crap for too long. I much prefer to go to source.
I'm sure some of my grammar is incorrect but then, I left school when i was 14 and that was a long time ago, I don't stress too much about it, that's what editors get paid for.
Music is definitely inspiring. :)
thats not odd at all man i'm the same way. i jsut sit down to write with out having any idea where the story is going to go. i think the surfers have it right when they say, you can't fight the wave, you can only go with the flow.
I find that detail such as siting, moving and small actions down to the moving of a hand or face will get people into your story and it also helps build worlds around your people in the story. Learning how to put images in your readers head helps play out a story or book in a realistic way. writers block is a part of writing and the easy way to avoid this is to run all your thoughts onto the paper and then sort through the stuff and making the details more vibrant often leads to a good story. to help translate from thought to paper i often think of my world in description and think it in my head in written form.

thats all the help i have for now

I rarely suffer from writers block, if I sit down to write and nothing comes I just walk away. Then the muse will tap me on the shoulder at some inconvenient time and tell me it's time to write again. I hadn't written anything in my latest novel for about 3 days then one afternoon at about 3 I started to write. By midnight I had written 3 chapters, almost 7000 words. You can't force it, when the story is ready it will come out.
"Then the muse will tap me on the shoulder at some inconvenient time and tell me it's time" I totally relate with that man. same goes for me with videos, drawings, writing all of it. Just happens out of nowhere. I just have to wait for that "feeling" and i'm on it. i call it the bug or the itch haha!
I haven't done any art work in weeks ( I do 3D art , that's my work on my avatar), that muse has had her butt kicked aside by the writing bitch. :P
same here although the muse rarely comes to me. in fact my masterpiece a  story ive been wrighting for five years, i only recently started working on it again after id say half a year because the muse finnaly came back. i need something really good to inspire me. doesn't mater what it is a move a story poem even music. if that's something good comes around and makes me want to wright then so be it. other wise i cant write for anything. i mean words come out but i'm never happy with them.  never!
One thing I've found that helps is keeping a notebook on me at all times, for writing down any idea you have, whereever you are. Thinking to yourself,"I'll remember it later" doesn't work. Another trick to get past writers block is "freewriting",where you just think of anything: a pond, a haircut, a cloud. Then just write anything that comes into your head, without stopping to think. Don't worry if it makes no sense whatsover, just keep writing until your hand is completely knackered. Look back and you might find a phrase that sticks out, and try again with that phrase. Alternatively you might just write a load of gibberish! But it's good to try.
tried that, but I finished up with a note book full of KILL KILL KILL KILL KILL :P
just jokin
this is awesome advice. even if you end up with one good sentence it's a success with freewriting.
OK guys check this out. Ive sent a message toLZ asking them for support. We have to take this to the next level. Check it out:

Dear LZ. After a little more surf time, I'm becoming more familiar with the LZ network. Its like a living organism. or Living Dead organism. And I'm liking it! I want to try something, with your support and approval.

I want to get the group involved with a short story competition on Writers Bloc. Two page minimum. Once a month. If we could have LZ host the rules on Writers Bloc, I think it would be the start of something good.

But Writers Bloc would need a place on its page where works could be submitted. I don't think submitting them on the blog or discussions room would work. Stories would get lost in the endless chit chat. It would be better if WB had its own separate button where members could submit only stories and nothing else. And where we could go and read them from the WB page. Could you help us put it together? Is it possible to give us another button? :)

Please let us know what we can do to make it work?

George ;)

So what do you think? Are you in? If you are you can send LAZ a message. He's been very helpful in getting Writers bloc going, but ultimately its up to us.

See you guys in the field,
George
