But I didn't mention the United Kingdom in the list of 20 or so nations

of course the United Kingdom uses the M4
yeah the SAS still uses them, niot their own L85 (nobody's really called it the SA80 for 20 yrs except on web pages)
i hate to inform you but even the US is starting to try to get away from the M-16 and the only resin is that it is to long for what we are fighting in right now but i still love the M-16 no matter what and yes i have used the FN-SCAR and most of the other guns that Vladimir Korchescov has stated and my pick if i was going out in to combat would be the Barrett M468 it shoots a bigger round then the M-16 but has the power from the AK-47 but other then that all guns have a use it just depends on how and what they are used for ;-)
Ah but u wouldnt need to fire 3000 rounds, or even 300 rounds to hit a zombie with an m16. Plus, the jamming problem is an easy fix (I don't know how but u hit the rifle like the fonz in a couple places and it works again). And the AK is ok against people, but terrible against zombies.
it is called the foreword assist butten and it is on the right side of the gun and if you clean the M-16 it should be just fine
I got the STAG ARMS AR-15 so mine is on the left. Shes cleaned and well oiled ready to rock and roll. Well over 300 rounds through her and not a jam.
The reason so many AK were made is that they were "GIVEN" away to groups fighting against legitimate and western backed goverments. I've carried both in combat, I own both. If I had to go with only one, It would be an M16A2. Simple, reliable, accurate.
I like the M-4. I'm not saying its better than this weapon or that weapon. I'm just saying, I'm better with the M-4 than this weapon or that weapon.
CQB sidearm: FN 5.7. It's a roided out .22 with no recoil, and with mag extentions it can hold 30 rounds. Ammo can be a bitch to find in some places, so a 1911 would be my alternate.

CQB- 200 meters: M4 except in 6.8 SPC and 2.5x ACOG. The caliber is just a personal preferance. I'd take my AK as an alternate.

200-300 meters: Stock .308 R700.

300+ meters (recon jobs): Full length M16A4 flat top with a floated, semi bull, fluted, throated barrel with a recessed crown, 3-9x Schmidt and Bender scope, and a magpul precision-adjustable rifle buttstock. Adjustable bi-pod. 80 grain XM223M1 match rounds.

Large groups: MK19 with HEI rounds.

Standoff: Cant go wrong with the 155mm howitzers. Ever.

1 million dead fucks: Multiple C-RAMS pointed straight ahead. lol.
When you said you'd use an M4 with 6.8 rounds, did u mean the REC7?
Essentialy yes. However I'd build it myself rather than get it from Barrett, since I'd want different hardware and I like doing that kinda thing anyway. I like the collapsable stocks, but I prefer the ARFX skeleton stock. It just feels more comfortable when I press my cheek into it. The grip would be rubberized (I hate the A2 style with a passion, that damn nub bites into my finger for some reason), and I'd have different handguards. Folding iron sights would be tritium. I would go with a piston drive since that op style has proved its worthiness for years, ala AK-47s and the newer AR-15s. I'd have an oversized charging handle to help if it was winter and I had gloves on. Hope that cleared up my statement! :)
BD, you need to check the ballistic tables; 7.62x39 does not have the range of M193, M855 or MK262, even in a 14.5" barrel. Lower velocity and lower ballistic co-efficient and artillery like trajectory. However, if you are referring to ME (muzzle energy), you are correct, to a point (maybe 200yds), but then it hits the dirt and if you can't hit the target it is a meaningless comparison. Also it lacks accuracy out of it's given platform and unless you are going to put it in an AR platform, you still can't hit anything with any regularity with it. I do agree with switching back to 5.56 after using .308, though. I would use 5.56 to 300 meters and use the .308 out to 1000 meters and leave the rest of the zombies alone.
