AK 47 vs M16 thread?
Really?
Did that just fucking happen?
Well I guess we've narrowed it down to the AK47 or the M16 and friends lol.
We could design and build a weapons platform that squeezed the 7.62x51mm into a case the size of the 5.7x28, weighed nothing, had a range of 20 miles, held 3,000 rounds, was ergonomically universal, recoilless, capable of punching all known bodyarmor, and was mechanically infallible and somebody, somewhere, would bitch.

A happy soldier is a bitchin' soldier, right?
Only 20 miles?
lol jk.
And ur right, a happy soldier is a bitchin soldier.
im no expert i say a berreta 9mm simple but gets the job done. for less wieght if you have pratice a snubnose revolver.
ALL firearms flex during firing.
Makes no difference.

Barrel flex does not translate to accuracy or reliability.

Consistency in load, bullet/cartridge dimensions, chamber dimensions, and parts tolerances along with bullet shape and barrel quality (among other things) all contribute to accuracy issues.

When the barrel flexes the bullet has already left the muzzle.
Well actually mopp, that would violate the laws of physics. Newton's 3rd law of classical mechanics would have an instantaneous effect at the moment of combustion and cause a deleterious affect on the flight of the bullet (as it actually does) during its transit of and leaving of the barrel. The flex of the barrel will start with the initial vibration and will outrun the velocity of the projectile until it breaks the speed of sound (vibration) through steel, which is somewhat faster than the speed of sound through the air (about 1116 fps) This is one of the reasons that AKs are very inaccurate. Yes all rifles will flex, some, but not like that. As far as consistency of loads, dimensions, chambers etc., I would not use an AK for my exemplar of precision, as that lack of precision is what makes it work so well!
ok once and for all the ak variant is ok the original sucks ass, its less accurate and a close range gn but who needs to snipe a zombie at 100 yards they are no threat, and yer the m16/ar is really accurate, i like em both but the ak is cheaper its around $350 for the ok ones the good ones are $500+ a good ar is 1200+ 1000 rds mil surp 5.56 500 dollars, 7.62x39 260 including shipping for 1000 rds not military but ive used em they run smoother than wolf.ok and the best military rifle, a m14, not current issue but takes a hunting round, and can double as a assault rifle and sniper rifle, also very accurate built off the m1 garand action, proven in the shittiest hellholes of the south pacific!
Hey, Jack, I've got 4 ARs that I built for about $650 apiece. If you want some at $1200 I'll be happy to build some for you, nice too. Would rather spend more for a more accurate rifle with more range. Also surplus LC is on the net for less than $500 for 2000 rds. OBTW, distance = safety and I would rather take my time popping zombies at 300meters, at my leisure, and chew on my sandwich, while I picked the next lucky recipient for terminal ballistic research.
i would use any gun that shoots strait, because lets face it, you can get on a roof top and take careful aim if needed, this crazy ass fire rate and everything that you guys are worried about wont matter, they arent shooting back, so dont worry about reload times either!
I thought I would be the only one to mention a MK19. Given a stable platform and as long as ammo holds out, that's my weapon of choice for larger groups. It might not eliminate them outright but a zombie in 5 pieces is less dangerous than an intact zombie.
