We need to make this map the first thing you see when you log onto the site. once this starts getting filled up with accurate reports, it'll be sexy looking for sure.
I agree. Although I think it would be much better if it were a world map, as opposed to just the US, because there are more people than just American's out there on the web, and on this site.
But hey, this map is just the start, so hopefully we'll have a bunch more soon. I'd just like to get a little bit more info on this one first before I really start another...

this looks really good. and im sure we can find similar maps of the rest of the world soon to work with.
i have a question though (and i dont mean to put anyone or thing down but,) realistically, how are we going to investigate these claims and confirm or disprove them? are we going to just go by word of mouth? and if we need hard evidence then how would we go about getting it? also, if we accept photos/videos how will we tell if its a real case and not something fake?
finding real outbreaks (if they exist) will prove very difficult. that being said i would still like to help anyway i can.
Well...yes, that is a problem, but one which I have thought about already. Currently, it would be impossible to determine which reports are accurate and which are false. We have no knowledge of what an accurate zombie is, as each bit of proof is different from the other.
There is a discussion in the D.I.R.T. group (started by me...it's called "What is a zombie") about this exact problem. You may find that a lot of my discussions/groups/blogs may possibly tie together like this. Probably because everything I make is based on questions I have and want to find out. But anyway, back to the point...
Until we can determine what a zombie is then there's no way to discredit any reports. So honestly... my suggestions would be (first) to not worry about that for now, and (second) to focus on that topic of discussion, so that in the future we may be able to improve the accuracy of our project.
Until then, discrediting a report is just a matter of finding inconsystencies with that person's claim, in comparison to...maybe other proof they have submitted, or proof from their same city or town submitted by other people...
I mean, anything can be proven with enough research, which is why I decided to throw in a Discredit a Report discussion, in spite of the point you just made.
Hope that answers your question...

ok well i just posted something strange in the Report an Infestation (USA) page. i cant debunk it immediately and on researching i just got more questions and little answers. you can see the full report for more info. ill keep looking for more info on this case.
and as far as defining a zombie, i see it as any reanimated human with hostel behavior. i think that would cover all the important bases. doesn't matter how it was reanimated, why it was, or who reanimated it. but thats a personal opinion, some like a more complex and complete definition. but for a base idea it has to be undead and dangerous.
(note on non-hostel undead: although they most likely would be considered a zombie if they existed i wouldn't take note of them on this mapping group unless they were infectious. then they would just be a carrier and could be dangerous in that meaning.)
Okay cool. Just so you know, for now I'm not focusing on making sure all reports on accurate, I just want to get a good basis for the map, so it at least looks partially complete sometime soon...even if the information isn't all accurate, it will still be a good starting point. And then from THERE we can go on to narrow it down and improve accuracy. Thanks for the research...but just so you know, I likely won't actually use it until much later.
BUT SAVE EVERYTHING YOU FIND! Later on it will definately come in handy. And be sure to save your sources, so that it can be proven for a fact you're not just making everything up.
Thanks for your effort in this project!

i always save my sources :D I've done A LOT of research in my time on things people dont normally find so easily. its understandable to not use it immediately so i'll keep compiling what i find. also i'd like the chance to talk to Last Legend some more and take note on what the claims are.
as for the collecting then narrowing it down way, its a good idea. it would be easyer to gather a large group and plot them so as to sift through them later. also a benifit of that method is say we find a confirmed outbreak (on the slim possibility) we can use it to link other near by possible outbreaks, lending credibility to where it likely to look.
hey cool so have i man we should team up and reasearch together to find real credible outbreaks my opinion is actaully the same as yours on this matter
