Preparations:
-I own a Subaru Outback which is fuel efficient (use half a tank for every week) and can carry a lot
-creating binder to contain all the information I need
-I have a map of the city next door to me and main HUBs circled.
-I have a black machete hidden in the back of my Outback
-Read the Zombie Survival guide eight times, listened to audio book six times. (almost memorized from front to back)
-read WWZ ten times (learning from what is the most realistic portrayal of a zombie apocalypse)
-been exercising (lost 50 pounds), mostly focusing on aerobics (makes me speedier and able to move longer)
-increasing muscle mass (not like bodybuilder, but lean and strong)
-have weapon in every room at my home
-have weapon at work (crowbars and such [not guns])
-reading survival guides
-reading how to make windmills (for energy)
-meditating (trying to mentally prepare myself for this new age)
-learning high damage martial arts from book(no schools nearby). Attacks that can take down an opponent in one strike.
-reading books about ninja techniques. Help increase my stealth.
-propane generator installed
-internet is satellite-based, so it will continue to work after phone lines are cut, at least until the satellites are shut down

See some people may find zombies funny here and there and not fear the creatures like they should. This is an age where the number one cause of death is being eaten alive. EATEN ALIVE. That thought alone scares the shit out of me. Not to mention I'll have to fight with my will and sanity. Moans will echoed throughout the night. These sounds will haunt me for a decade and decades after it is all over.

So anyways, my plan:

I will not disclose where I live(privacy reasons), but I will give a good description of my area.

I live in an area with a population less than 1000, but it is next door to a city with a population of 30000, and of the other side is a city with a population of 125000. I'm smack dabbed in between these cities. It takes 15 minutes (driving at 80kph) to reach the 30K and 20 (driving at 100kph) to reach the 125K. Like said in WWZ with the pilot who was in the forest. She was in between hotspots. Zombies are too focused on the cities than the area between them. So I believe my home will make for a decent HQ for my progress.

The only problem with where I live is that a large highway (just four-lanes [two north and two south]) is down the road from where I live. It's about a five minute drive (80 kph) to it, but it could cause some concerns. But the highways lead to the 30K and the 125K. Zombies will be too busy going towards the cities than to explore a isolated, quiet dirt road. My home is also in the middle of a forest. 78 acres in size. The zombies will have to go through kilometre after kilometre of forest (my neighbours own land almost equivalent to mine so the zombies have to go through roughly through 300 acres of forest to reach me) to reach me, no matter where they come from. My home also has a long driveway. It takes two minutes to drive up it. It's also block by trees, real easy to miss. I'll be out of sight and I won't have to be as careful about my noise level.

When an emergency is declared and everyone tries to leave towards the north or south, I will convince my family to stay at the house. I will hurry to set up a security system to detect zombies. It's basically a system of strings and cans. The string is run around the house and goes through certain cracks. The cans will be placed in the bedrooms. When a string is pushed, it will shake the cans of every room. Not too loud but enough to get our attention (I know this will not detect crawlers, but I would make a thorough check before exiting the house). If my house becomes compromised, then I'll head to one of my neighbours homes (also concealed from initial view). I know them well enough that they'll panic and leave, probably leaving supplies.

My quest will start will simply clearing every house on my road of any zombies (and gathering supplies and weapons). I expect this would take a few days tops, maybe a couple more to avoid zombie detection. I will bike to each home to reduce noise. I will then go to the next line which consists of a small (roughly fifty) home division. Really small homes. I will then take the line on the other side of me. This will help gather gas, food and weapons, and destroy any zombie that may become an immediate threat. If I run into too many, I'll take twisting roads so I don't lead them back to my home. This will take a couple weeks.

I will gather any survivor I find. Bring them back to my home. Here I could probably start up my own zombie killing team. In tradition of this Spill Group, I will call it the CZU(Counter Zombie Unit). My father will act as our medic(him being a doctor and all). We will keep taking line after line until we reach the city. I will not enter the city right away. I'm going to take a shopping area just outside of the city. It contains a Grocery store, Wal-mart, home depot and bulk mart(not a bulk store like Costco or Sam's Club)(has many spices and ingredients). This will be our forward base. It is outside of the city and located near a low population area of the city. It's away from churches, hospitals and police stations.

Once we establish our area of safety, we will make runs into the city. Slowly kill zombie after zombie. Again, if we are overwhelmed, we will retreat and take twisting roads to lose them. Like I mentioned before, I marked areas in the city as HUBs. Areas that are part of my list of HUBs include: churches, hospitals, pharmacies, police stations, political buildings, gun stores, camping stores, etc. Each HUB will be classified on a level of 1-10 in terms of threat level. Hospitals and the Police Station will be ranked a 10 for sure, while a political building would be a 2. I take in account of possibility of aggressive human survivors, zombie population and location in population center. For example, a gun store would normally be a five (maybe the owner is still there and is crazy), if it is a block away from the hospital then it goes up to nine. My group would take care of low level HUBs before high level. I will create multiple squads to help increase our efficiency. Each squad will only be led by people I can trust to be responsible and level headed(or at least as reasonably as possible). Each squad will consist of 4-7 members. Also, once we take the police station we will use their vests as part of our uniform. I will have every vest spray paint with the letters CZU.

I don't expect this to be short. I expect to take my city in two months. We pick off the highway zombies and start our way north towards the 125K city. Also we need a password to identify each other in case we run into each other. I would suggest: (Say "Protecting Humanity". They respond "One Headshot At A Time.") This would prevent anyone from thinking you mean harm.

Also if you run into me, my nickname will still be Harms. Everyone calls me that. First name is Andrew. Hope you do well.

I could see this taking even longer if there were setbacks like deaths, injuries, illness, vehicle breakdown, etc. All coincidental in reality but they could turn 2 months into a very long period of time. I would say that 3-4 months may be a better reality since the 30k city may be infested with more than you expect.
I suppose you're right. It all depends. Best case scenario: two months. Worse case: five months.
Say are you talking about takig a 30k then 125k cities with a group with a total number of around 50 people tops?Take in account running out of ammo, suicides, and other setbacks and your two months may turn into 8 months.Thats if you even can take te cities over
I was referring to the time to take the 30k city, not both cities.
well still all of those setbacks i listed for the 30k city.and how would you properly defend the city once it's taken if taken at all?
Behind the city is a lake. All in all, there is three roads into the city (seriously). One road goes over a river that connects two lakes(that surround the back end of the city) and the other two is actually one highway that goes North (towards Thunder Bay) and another that goes South (towards Toronto).

I can cut off the lake road by destroying it. That'll prevent zombies from coming from that direction, so they will be forced to go through the lake, effectively slowing them down. Next, the city is elevated from the highway so the only way into the city from the highway is four on/off-ramps. I would take cars to block off these on/off-ramps. With zombie threat reduced to an inconvenience, the threat left behind are other humans and ferals.
Well you still have to ask yourself could your forces take over the city
It all depends on who I can get to fight along side me. It's entirely possible that I'll have to do all of the fighting. But my city isn't that packed together. It's a city purely in terms of population. That being 30k. The population is spread out over an area so there is no real risk of super swarms.

To get an idea of population density, the most dense areas look like this:

As oppose to this idea of a city:

Hey Harms,

Very good plan you've put up here. Glad to see that there are others nearby that are in the right mindset when it comes to survival. I've been adapting my survival plan also. A bit complicated considering I live in Toronto. However I have been searching for a plan B just in case my plan does not pan out. I've been reading your plan and would like to suggest we team up when shtf. It'll be good to know that there is someone somewhat nearby that wouldn't mind joining forces to combat those bastards.

no.. worse case you fuck up and breack down and you watch your family get eaten alive then you get eaten alive ... slowly... TIGHTEN YOUR SHIT UP FOOL im sixteen and i know i just pissed you off but i WILL NOT LET A LIFE END FROM SUGER COATING SHIT!!! ALSO the highway by your house is actually a VERY GOOD THING what are goiing to clog highways for hundreds of thousands of miles =stupid muffins(idiots who think the zombie opocalypse is a containnable thing)what are there (mostly aboandoned)vehicles gonna be filled with? supplies ... mainly... food dont miss your opportunity blow the road a few miles (ten or so up raod, tell everyone its impossible to get threw set explosives as a tramp in the extream unlickly hood a horde scenario is even possible (there always on roads so just as likely to catch them with there pants down then there likly to gather in a tight murder mosh and moan loudly and travel a road so free way=supplies.

idk taking an entire city seems pretty unrealistic even if it just a small one.remember in world war z when they tried to take back new york.even though new york is obviously bigger and denser it was the entire U.S. army trying to stop them.thats millions of soldiers fighting millions and millions of zombies.now we take those numbers down to say 50 guys vs possibly 30000 zombies. it does seem flawed but if you do manage to maintain an entire city as a big safe haven point me in that direction and sign me up
