Share 'Domestication and Liberation'

I was just thinking about the fact that some of the zombie films out have some scientist type trying to domesticate in not 'cure' the infected. My question here is: Why do they feel the need to try and make them into slaves? Wouldn't it be better just to eradicate the lot of them? And then try do something else that might help?
